The duet didn't work, IMO. I know Idol wanted Lauren to sing with Carrie, but honestly Carrie should have just sang it they way she usually kills it. The song is not meant to be a duet: the harmonies from Lauren sounded like a mess and Carrie clearly was holding back and probably not used to doing so.

Yeah it was more of a moment for Lauren than anything...for her to sing with her idol.

Yeah. The duet was mad awkward. Lauren has literally no interpretive abilities, therefore her bits came across dorky as fuck. And, Carrie was clearly holding back to accommodate Lauren's needs.
Still, it was nice to see Carrie. She's trending on Twitter, as well.

WOAH. Those legs are godly. :o Total understatement! :o Carrie was definitely holding back but she let loose a little at the end. I saw her motion to Lauren to "get up there" like she wanted her to take control. Lauren did ok, better than I thought she would.

Oh, and she should have held back -- like she did. It's Lauren's night, and no need to show her up. I actually think it went better than I envisioned.

Carrie wasn't teasing with that "note or two", huh? That was cute though. Carrie was very encouraging to Lauren too, saying stuff to her and urging her to take charge.

Great finale, I wish there was more Carrie, but that's just the fan in me talking.
Carrie was awesome with Lauren, but yeah, it's obvious she was holding back. And those legs.... seriously :O

Carrie looked and sounded great, but I wasn't a fan of the duet. Kind of boring. I understand it had to do with Lauren's voice problem though.

I loved the duet. Yes, Carrie obviously held back, but it was too adorable. Watching this made me think of when Carrie was on Idol. On Idol, Carrie's stage presence was just like Lauren's is now. But look at Carrie's stage presence now! It's like she's a completely different person now (but is still the same sweet, humble woman). I know that's been said so many times, but that was one of the first things I thought of seeing them together.
Oh, and Carrie's legs.........they should be trademarked!

Carrie is looking for a song to cover at the upcoming FC party. You can find all the details over at the official FC page.
I haven't sent mine in yet but I'm leaning towards 'On The Verge of Tears' by Patty Loveless, 'Back When We Were Beautiful' by Matraca Berg, or 'Addicted' by Dan Seals. I know...none of those are likely choices. But it's worth a shot!

Just to make all of you aware, I'm hosting a Vocalist Tournament in the Polling Booth. Carrie's match is up against Billie Holiday. If you think Carrie is the better vocalist, I'd encourage you to vote for her, so she doesn't get eliminated in the first round. But Billie is a legend, and stiff competition.

I was really looking forward to Carrie and GaGa doing "Judas Take The Wheel" tonight, but it didn't happen. :(

I like this picture. She looks incredible! And Typo - Just sent in my request for "Maybe It Was Memphis" by Pam Tillis, I'm sure she'd love to do that one since she said she wish she could have done it on idol, plus it's a new favorite of mine.

I've always had a dreamy version of Carrie covering that song in my mind (only with more power in the second half of the song -- in the bridge/final chorus) since she covered "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man" with Brad back in December of 2009.

The song is not meant to be a duet: the harmonies from Lauren sounded like a mess and Carrie clearly was holding back and probably not used to doing so. I partly agree. The song is too big for Lauren. However, I also feel that Carrie is not very good at harmonizing, either, imo. Combine two people who are not good at harmonies, and you get a performance that's very off like this one.

Billboard chose their top 10 performances of the finale. Carrie+Lauren came in at #7 with this description:

Carrie is one of the best there is at harmonizing. Have you seen her perform with others before, really? I think that Lauren was at fault here and even then it wasn't that bad.

lauren last night actaully remindde me of carrie during her finale night. she was all giggly she got to sing with rascal flatts, and was careflu to make sure she doest overpower or outshine them. and lord knows her awkward stage presence back during her idol season and even immediately after winning has been documented a thousadn different ways, mean and snarky most of the time. watching carrie perform with laren last night looked like a before and after version of carrie. if lauren works with the right people and has the right work ethic and attitude, i dont see any reason why she wont end up close to being like carrie.
