On a related note, Loretta Lynn complimented Carrie in an interview for the Nashville Songwriter's Foundation: Q: Who are some of your favorite artists these days?
LL: Carrie Underwood. I think she’s great. The LEGENDS love Carrie.

Ryan Tedder mentioned working on multiple songs for the upcoming album during an interview with the San Francisco Examiner: Q: How do your songwriting offers arrive?
A: Funnily enough, they come either through running into somebody or through my management. But sometimes I’ll randomly get an email from an artist, and I’ll think “Whoa! I didn’t even know they had my email address!” But Florence (Welch) of Florence + The Machine started reaching out to me about a year ago through a mixing engineer, who said “She’s a massive fan of yours, and you’re one of the only collaborators she wants to work with.” We’re still trying to book a session. And then there’s the Canadian artist LIGHTS — I actually tracked her down, because she had this song called “Face Up” and I just became obsessed with it. And I ended up with Common in the studio, working with Colbie Caillat, But then Common and I really connected, and now I’m working on his new record. And in the last two months, I did a song on Beyonce’s new album, a handful of Carrie Underwood songs, a Rascal Flatts song, and then went into the studio with B.o.B. for a week. And I just did the music for Gucci — a super-electro/ambient track for their new campaign that you wouldn’t think I had anything to do with. I’m hopscotching genres, and that’s my favorite way to do it. And now I’m definitely trying to get in with Paul McCartney. That’s my ultimate goal in collaboration — McCartney.

I don't have a problem with it. Hopefully she just picks out the best songs. I trust her judgment.

Oh... Yep- that about sums up my feelings about Tedder working with Carrie....

You know, we never heard how him and Carrie sound together stylistically. They could be songwriting soul mates. You never know.

Tedder is shit. I'm not all that concerned about his involvement, though. Neither of his previous co-writes with Carrie - "This Dance" & "Where Do We Go From Here" - ended up on Play On. So it's not like his name is guaranteeing anything.
I'm still feeling really good about the upcoming album, especially after the Country Music Summit interview - 'folksy', 'darker', 'eclectic', 'stripped down', 'spiritual', & 'vocally challenging' sounds perfect to me.

I've had a gut feeling ever since MS peaked that this next album cycle would match the success of the SH era, and I'm still sticking by that.

Tedder is an Okie, and a cousin of SOS, so there is a connection there.

^ I hope you don't mean sales-wise Noooo. 7x Platinum is probably the biggest album sales certification she'll ever have. I'm talking about success-wise, in terms of charts, radio play, single sales (I can see her get another multi-platinum song with the righ material), cross-over success, awards, etc. If she sticks to her guns with what she said the next album would be like, it could turn out to be along the lines of Miranda's Revolution; folksy, spiritual, stripped down, vocally challenging, etc., and we all saw how that album blew up.

Very lengthy but nice interview with Australia's Undercover Magazine. Lots of interesting questions. She mentioned doing some 'special thing' with "Remind Me" for the next album. I'm assuming that means it will be a bonus track.

I hope that this album is 'darker.' I love my sad music...
I thought that Carrie would want a happy album, though? She did recently get married, and apparently everyone loves her. Dolly loves everyone, of course; but getting a compliment like that from Loretta is something special.

Thanks for posting this video interview, Typo: I love that it is over 17 minutes long ! I especially enjoy watching these longer interviews because they seem to reveal yet another facet of the artists that I miss with the shorter ones. With Carrie, one can easily see her humility, gorgeous soul, and genuine gratefulness and love for country music.

Great interview. :) Thanks for the find, Typo. I like how she says (in the Brad part of the interview), "We host the CMA Music Awards together.", instead of 'host ed.' Hinting that it could continue this year? Carrie got 2 nominations for the 2011 Pulse Music Awards. Country Artist of the Year, and Country Single of the Year for Undo It.

I noticed that too about the CMA hosting, I honestly don't see that stopping for a LONG time, and love it! Great interview. Laughed when Carrie said "Nice Segway!" when the interviewer transitioned from talking about if Carrie ever had worms to Carrie Underworm. EDIT: That didn't sound in the least bit right, but in the conext of the video it makes sense.

They compliment one another, and have impeccable chemistry. :) Brad & Carrie need to do a duets album one day, but not until the far future. Stay focused on their solo work for a while longer. Great news! Play On only dropped to #15 (one spot from last week) on the ARIA Albums chart, and Undo It entered the ARIA Singles Chart at #85! This is her first entrance to that chart, ever.

This deserves a new post: Play On moved up to #1 on the Australian Country Albums chart! This gives Carrie her first #1 in Australia, as well as her first #1 album in Australia! CELEBRATE AND REJOICE, CARRIE STANS.

Underwood Delivers At Country FestThe cool, damp night didn't stand a chance against Carrie Underwood's red-hot performance at the 25th Country Fest in rural Cadott Saturday night.
From the first deafening boom of a bass drum, the crowd cheered wildly waiting for Underwood to appear.
She delivered immediately with "Cowboy Casanova," off of her 2009 album Play On.
Her metallic tank top glistened under the bright lights. She traversed the stage in black high-heel boots. But her clothing played second fiddle to her monstrous voice.
Underwood's vocals were spot on and gave chills at times.
