So, from the sound of this Brandon Heath interview w/ The Grand Rapids Press, a Christmas album was originally in-the-works: He [Brandon Heath] has a new Christmas song (“The Night Before Christmas”) on the just-released “WOW Christmas” compilation CD. The song originally was on hold for Underwood, who decided not to release a holiday album of her own. I guess that explains all of those Rowfax listings seeking Christmas songs for Carrie. Damn! So close! A Christmas album would be lovely, but then we'd have to wait even longer for new music! This does make sense. When she shot down the "rumor" at the fan club she only said there was no Christmas album coming out anytime soon, or something along those lines. So she never denied discussing or planning a Christmas album... I would still love a Christmas album in the future, maybe 2012? Midway through the album era... seems like a good idea to me :)

Christmas album would be nice... after new music is released. Sorry, but my selfishness has overtaken, and I want new, original material before a holiday album.

I can't wait 'til everyone is freaking out when we FINALLY hear some news of the new single.
Are we still hoping for the CMA's? I like all the perfomers announced so far, and I can't imagine there being many more announced (if any), but I could see Brad and Carrie potentially getting solo performances in addition to "Remind Me" (which I'm also stoked to hear).
I just really want that single to come soon...she seriously can't wait too much longer. I mean, obviously it will explode no matter what, but I REALLY want it at the CMA's and I want that album in early 2012. It makes me excited that at any day we could hear something, and yet it's frustrating that we haven't heard anything yet.
Oh, and I love the idea of a Christmas album...she sounds flawless on the few Christmas songs she has done, and a full album would be great. BUT, I agree I don't want it until after we get a new album FIRST. It would be nice to get a Christmas album in late 2012 though :)

The closer we get to the CMA's with absolutely zero news, the less hope I have for a new single being performed. I'm all for Carrie taking her time to make the best album possible, but we haven't had a solo single of hers on the radio in a year now. My patience is beginning to wear very thin.
If we could at least get a date for when to expect new material, I'd take that. This complete silence is definitely frustrating. However, we do know that they've already started planning Carrie's 2012 tour, as per Carrie's info from posts and blogs on the fan club. So that must mean they have somewhat of a concrete plan in place for the new album. If they could share that with the public any day now, that'd be great.

There is still hope for something to come up at the CMAs. Think about how epic it would be if we really didn't know anything about Carrie's new music, and she just busted out on stage with a new song. That would create so much buzz! Like the whole Steven Tyler thing except we really had no hints until she walked out on stage with a new song playing in the background.
One can always be optimistic!

Considering that I'm used to getting at least 2-3 singles a year from Carrie on the radio, yeah, it is. It's not necessarily that we don't have any new material yet that frustrates me, I'm fine with waiting, it's that we still don't have any information as to when we can expect new material. We still don't even know if there will be a new single in 2011 at all, or if we're going to be waiting until next year.

You know, she could have released a Christmas album this year to hold us over until the new album comes out in 2012, because this wait is killing us, and from what I understand, Christmas album don't take too long to make. ;)
Although I would like some original or even co-written tracks from Carrie when does a Christmas album, not just all standards.

I maybe wrong, but I can't think of a time that Carrie has actually been able to release something the way she planned. She had given clues in the past and her fans became relentless to find information and of course couldn't keep what they found to themselves. Maybe that is why she is giving us so little this time. Then again, maybe she just doesn't have anything to give us yet. All of her duets were wonderful and I am certainly looking forward to some new stuff.

The last new single Carrie we had was "Mama's Song," and that was released back in September of 2010 and peaked at the beginning of January 2011. We usually have a new Carrie single every 4 or 5 months. So yes, it's a very long dry spell. I'm still remaining hopeful for the CMAs to be the premiering ground for a lead single. We still have about 3 weeks until the show, and a lot can happen.

With the announcement that Faith Hill is debuting a new single on the CMA's, I'd be shocked if Carrie did the same thing. I think she'll wait until after that.

If Carrie does or doesn't perform a new single at the CMA's, it will have nothing to do with Faith Hill. I like Faith and I'm excited she's finally coming out with new music, but it's not Carrie's responsibility to make sure the spotlight is on Faith or anyone else.

One thing's for sure, if we don't get the lead single at the CMAs then Carrie's definitely at the wheel with this album. I just cannot see the label wanting to pass up on the opportunity that is the CMAs. I mean Carrie's hosting, performing "Remind Me" with Brad, and she'll more than likely be featured in new Olay & Pedigree ads shown during commercial breaks. It's basically going to be the Carrie Music Awards.

It's basically going to be the Carrie Music Awards. All of them pretty much are though aren't they? That'd be heavenly, but within these past 2 years or so (with the exception of the ACAs in December of 2010), it's been all about Miranda & Taylor.

I wasn't even really referring to the awards, though. Carrie is pretty much front and center for the entirety of the CMAs thanks to her hosting duties & promo spots. She doesn't have that privilege with the other award shows.
All I'm trying to say is that it would make a hell of a lot more sense for the label to shoot for a lead single debut at the CMAs rather than say the ACAs or ACMs.

Carrie posted on the FC that she personally has a single picked out that she would like to see be the lead, but has not sat down with her label to discuss this formally and so it is subject to change.

I was just addressing yoKC's post that was implying that every show has always been about Carrie.

Yay! That's news at least. She does talk about her music after all! Hahaha! I'm hoping they have that meeting soon! I want some new Carrie!

That's something! Hopefully she has that label sit-down soon. This lead single can't come any slower than it already is.

The spotlight is going to be on Faith regardless. The only question is whether Carrie wants to share the spotlight with a lead single as well. I hope they both sing new stuff. I'm just not getting the feeling Carrie will.

I just don't get why Carrie's decision of whether or not to sing a new single has to depend on Faith Hill.
