Video from Carrie's set at Capital Hoedown:
She sounds incredible. And, I really really love that CC performance. She always nails it but this one just has something ~special about it, in my opinion!

Carrie sounds incredible on all the videos, especially on 'Floor' and 'Casanova', except for 'Walk This Way'. I was really looking forward to the Carrie/Miranda, and as short as it was, I was pretty disappointed. I love Miranda (A LOT), but her harmonies on 'Cheats' were pretty off-key. I also wish Carrie's harmonies were a bit louder on 'Lead'.

I honestly think the reason for their being off key was the lack of rehearsal. I mean as far as I know this was their first time performing the medley, right? Maybe a soundcheck before... So having never sang each other's songs before and having to harmonize them could be quite hard. It's one thing to just cover a song, it's a completely different thing to sing the harmonies for the first time... Other than that they sounded okay, and it's obvious they were having a ton of fun! I also think Carrie being quiet was her just not quite knowing the harmonic notes to go with Miranda. Instead of guessing out loud, it seems as if she guessed the notes to herself, lol.

I don't think Carrie was off-key at all when she harmonized on 'Lead'; she was a bit too soft though, which may be a function of lack of rehearsal. Perhaps they decided to do a duet mashup extemporaneously. On the other hand, I do believe that Miranda was off-key when harmonizing on 'Cheats'. I would love to see them do more duets together because their voices could potentially contrast each other well in a very good way.

Lots of nice pics from last night can be found over here. Carrie slayed that entire concert. All of those up-tempo performances were fire. I mean Carrie's been commanding the stage for years now but she really let herself go up there. Lots of interaction w/ the crowd, too. Loved all of it. And, I can't even be disappointed about the duet because it was so obviously last minute. Honestly it was just nice to see two women up there having a blast rocking out & then seeing them hug it out like that at the end of the performance. I enjoyed it for what it was.

^^^Granted that the performance seemed pretty unrehearsed, but I still loved it. The mutual respect these two have for each other is really admirable, and I hope they do a studio recorded duet one day.

Thanks for all the videos guys! I agree with Typo that Carrie was seriously on fire at this show and I hope she's the same when I see her Sept. 4! Loved the Miranda/Carrie duet but yea, Miranda was a little off but I'm sure it was lack of rehearsal. A studio recording would rock my world. :)

You'd think by now they would have done something together in the studio. I mean all year they've been working on their albums... I would think a song that they both like would come up somewhere??? Maybe 2012 will be the year of a Carrie/Miranda duet... you know it'd be huge too!

I want some solo stuff first, please. Yes please. We've had quite a number of duets/collabs this year to last till 2013 for me lol. So yeah, I'd prefer to have my fix on Carrie's solo stuff first. :) I don't mind a Carrie/Miranda duet, but I'm probably not as excited about it as some of you guys. Just not too big a fan of Miranda's voice.

Great interview clips. And is she starting to pick up a Canadian sound? Part 12, and whatever part the TH clip was, listen closely to how she says things, i.e. "lucky" is "lookey."

The article references a FNN (fake news network)? I believe this to be a satirical piece. In other news, Madkat@ofc found this cute vid of Carrie at the Vitamin Water promo site. www.getactivenow.com

off topic, but I'm in love with I Know You Won't. what a beautiful song! It's lovely. I think it should've been the first single off Carnival Ride, but it might not have been country enough.

I'm not sure about first single, but it should have been a single. In my opinion, Carrie's career has gone amazingly - but even in a career like her's there have been missed opportunities. At least one per album era. "Some Hearts" had a beautiful mid-tempo that would've made for a great single, "The Night Before (Life Goes On)" - it would've been a huge hit. Then "Carnival Ride" comes along, proving Carrie's superstardom in Country music, however I feel "I Know You Won't" would have been EPIC at Country radio. It's one of her most powerful, emotional ballads and showcases Carrie's vocals in the best way. The of course, who could forget the major missed opportunity with "Play On"? "Someday When I Stop Loving You" simply could have made up for all the critical acclaim the album was missing as a whole. It was a classic Country ballad showing Carrie's vocals in rare form. She rarely has a song to showcase her soft vocals, but SWISLY was it. These are easily the biggest missed opportunities in her career. I don't know why that caused me to go into that, but there ya go! Haha.
