I respect what you're doing, so thank you. But, I must ask, who are you and how do you have access to such top-secret stuff!?! Haha. I'm just a normal fan of great country artists such as Carrie, Taylor, Lady A, etc who happens to have a few solid contacts on Music Row and in Nashville. Most Carrie fans know me as the person who posted the review of Cowboy Casanova before the single was even announced. Anyway, I'm looking forward to Carrie's new album like everyone else and I will let you know if I come across any new songs.

Hey. Today is September 2nd. I remember 2 years ago today Cowboy Casanova leaked. I remember we hardly heard anything about the Play On album besides the fact that Carrie was working on it until August 30th or something when the album cover came out. Then a few days later the single leaked.
That just shows how sometimes we can have no news at all and then out of nowhere, album news will start popping up! I hope that is what we're in store for soon! I'm getting impatient.

I have a feeling the first single will drop the first week of October with the album coming out in December.

^^ Stellar vocals on such a short clip ! She has a gorgeous jazzy tone on a pop standard from the 1920s or 1930s. Amazon brilliantly teased us while fading out in Carrie's head voice during that clip **MUST PURCHASE**. I increasingly appreciate just how amazingly versatile Carrie's voice is- waiting until September 20 patiently....

Carrie could easily be a pop artist, rock artist, blues artist, or jazz artist. She'd suck as a rapper though.

Carrie replied in a thread over at the FC about the possibility of a future CMT Crossroads special. She mentioned that they have actually been thinking about duet partners for quite awhile, things have just never quite worked out. But...it sounds like they have finally found that 'perfect fit' and now it's all about scheduling & whatever.
So, yeah, we're getting a Crossroads special!

That only took about an eternity and a half. I'm just praying that some of my dream Carrie collaborations happen. Mainly Carrie and Adele

Any time she collabs with another artist, it's usually a male, so I'd love to see her switch it up and do a Crossroads with a female artist. Adele, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, or even Rihanna.

Really excited about the CMT Crossroads Special. Really interested to know who the artist is she'll be doing it with.
And I can't wait for the Tony Bennett duet. She sounds fantastic on the few lines we've heard so far, can't wait for the whole track to come out.

PLEASE let the Crossroads be with Adele! It would be a smash of epic proportions. I think all party's involved will be extremely happy with the outcome.

I kinda hope that the crossroads is with someone completely unexpected. We all know that Carrie can sing her ass off to anything. Let's pair with someone we'd never imagine. That way, we can all be shocked by the awesomeness.

Finally! A Possible crossroads!!!!! So excited. I've been waiting for a crossroads from her for years! I hope it's a great pick.
Of course Carrie responds to a topic on that but mentions nothing about the new album... Typical of her. Haha.

I agree, although I would love to see a Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood Crossroads, which would never happen for so many reasons (Idol x 2, Kelly already having been on Crossroads). Honestly, I can see Carrie pairing with a Rock/Alternative or Hot AC artist, such as John Mayer, Norah Jones, Jason Mraz, or Rob Thomas. My preference for a male of any genre would be Chris Cornell, because he has my favourite male voice from the past two decades- so soulful, gritty, and honest. If a contemporary female were selected, my choices would be Pink or Kelly Clarkson mostly because of similar vocal calibre and the ability to mesh well. While I also feel Adele and Beyonce are at Carrie's vocal calibre, I do not know how well their voices would blend (eg: Sugarland/Beyonce duet ). Rihanna is simply not an option because of too many vocal incongruities, IMO.

I would love some rock band. I love when Carrie rocks. I agree, although I would love to see a Kelly Clarkson/Carrie Underwood Crossroads, which would never happen for so many reasons (Idol x 2, Kelly already having been on Crossroads). You can appear more than once, though.

I honestly don't want her to do a Crossroads with a rock artist, because that would be too obvious. I'm hoping it's an R&B/Pop singer.

I feel like it would be obvious to her fans who know her love of rock music well, but casual fans and non-fans really had no idea how well Carrie could rock out until she duetted with Steven Tyler on the ACMs, so I'd be very happy with a rock collaboration. A lot of people seem to be wanting Adele, and I think that would also be a fabulous pairing. Adele did mention recently that she wants her next album to have some country influence and will be spending some time in Nashville for it, so it's very possible that scheduling could work out if Adele did indeed agree to it.

Carrie did mention the main reason why its so hard to do crossroads is because CMT wants the other artist to be able to draw in huge ratings. i don't see Cornell being considered a ratings pull nowadays unlike 10-15 years ago. plus, judging from YT videos from concerts, his live vocals are kind of a shadow of what they once were.

even if rock collabs may be predictable, id still be happy if the partner was bono. bono is a great duet partner - he harmonizes well, and has really great emotion on his voice that carrie can play on really well. id like to see carrie take on old school u2 - wiht or without you, pride, all i want is you, etc. (please, no more beautiful day!!!) one of my fave duets of all time was bono and andrea corr's when the stars go blue.
for a girl partner i would love norah jones bec of their contrasting styles. id love to see carrie take on come away with me and turn me on. imagine carrie singing the lines "I'm just sitting here waiting for you to come home and turn me on" w/ bare instrumentation! ack! will be all kinds of wild!!!

Some of the artists who have been on Crossroads with the country artists do not seem to be big ratings drawers, such as Joss Stone, Los Lonely Boys, and John Mayer (did not realize he's already been on there twice- WOW). www.cmt.com/shows/dyn/cmt_crossroads/episode_list.jhtml
