I hope we hear the single before the CMAs if she does perform it. I'd rather hear the real studio version before hearing the live version. I remember when she sang So Small before we all heard the studio version and I wasn't totally sold on it. Then I heard the studio version and loved it!

I don't think she will... I don't even think she has a first single chosen yet...

I don't think she will... I don't even think she has a first single chosen yet... Well according to her CCUSA interview with Brad, she's definitely got her plans on track, so I wouldn't be surprised if she does.

I think Carrie knows a lot more about what's planned for the upcoming era than she's letting on. She probably has most of the songs picked out for the album, just is trying to narrow it down, and is continuing to write to fill in any gaps. So if she has most of the songs picked out, I wouldn't be surprised if she has the lead single picked out (and perhaps it's one of the 6 songs she's already recorded).

[/i][/blockquote][/quote] Looks like I'll just have to buy a ticket to this one too! Seeing Carrie twice, Brad Paisley, Randy Travis, Josh Turner, plus the Little Big Town/Lee Ann Womack show I'm going to AT THE OPRY all in two weeks?! Heck yes!

^^^Uhhh... that seems all but tailor-made for a Remind Me performance. That could be...although the CMA Press release today did say that its first live performance on television would be at the CMA's... But they did through in the whole "on television" part, and since the Opry isn't televised live, Brad & Carrie could very well be planning on performing "Remind Me" on the 18th.

Ugh. She sounds so good on "My Girl". Is the one of the shows they will be taping for television? I honestly have no idea.

Loved My girl! I really hope we get a video of her singing "You Really Got a Hold on Me" too. :)

Carrie posted a short blog over at the FC tonight about her current favorite song & video - "Save The World" by Swedish House Mafia.

Carrie posted a short blog over at the FC tonight about her current favorite song & video - "Save The World" by Swedish House Mafia. I love how broad that girl's taste is. One day she's raving about Jane's Addiction, the next she's raving about Adele, and now she's raving about Swedish House Mafia. Although, she's got great taste. :)

"Eighteen Inches" (Lauren Alaina)
It's about fifteen hundred miles to California, they'll get there Friday if they leave tonight, she sneaks out at three thirty in the morning, leaves a note so she won't see her daddy cry.
He cuts the engine when he coasts in the driveway, she slides in and gives him one kiss for the both, no friends and no family, no job out there waiting, the whole town will call them crazy but they gotta go.
'Cause when you're young and in love, yeah, you might do some things that don't seem all that smart, 'cause there ain't no greater distance than the eighteen inches from your head to your heart, yeah.
They can barely make rent on a rundown apartment, she's waiting tables and he's a valet, they're behind on the bills and the car's barely running, but he buys a ring with the tips that he's saved.
When you're young and in love, yeah, you might do some things that don't seem all that smart, 'cause there ain't no greater distance than the eighteen inches from your head to your heart.
Last thing they need is another mouth to feed, but they won't call, just kids themselves but that's all to change in nine more months, she wakes him up at three thirty in the morning, ready or not their new life's going to start, seven pounds and eighteen inches, the doctor lays that new baby's head right on her heart.
When you're young and in love, yeah, you might do some things that don't seem all that smart, but thank God for those eighteen inches, the distance it is from your head to your heart, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Those are beautiful lyrics. At the same time, the song does seem to fit for Lauren's debut album better than if it had been on Play On. I could've seen the song fitting very nicely on "Some Hearts," though.

Wow. I really like that lyric. Especially the lines about "not wanting to call" & "saving tips" and how the car in the 1st verse is referenced in the 2nd - "car's barely running." I mean it's not exactly ground-breaking or anything but quite compelling, I think. And, I love that lyric neither applauds nor condemns the couple's decisions.
Can't wait to hear it in full.

Very impressive co-write for Carrie :o
I love the entire storyline, especially in the verses. I'm excited to hear the final product!
