And I'm in love with Eighteen Inches Like I said before; it's well-written, but it's the type of content suitable for Lauren's album, so I'm glad Carrie didn't put it on a final product.

Anyway, Carrie gets a nice mention in Lauren's Wildflower album-liner notes:

"I wanna give a big thanks to Carrie Underwood for being someone to look up to and for being so nice to me. You are the coolest person in the world and you really make me believe in myself! I can’t believe you gave me the opportunity to sing with you on the show that started both of our careers. I love who you are as a person and an artist!"

Lauren is a sweetheart, and I definitely see a great friendship developing between the two. Especially if they tour together next year. I do hope they collaborate in the future, that would be amazing!

That entry isn't dated but I'm pretty sure it was posted a while ago, I just happened to come across it today. I wouldn't be surprised if Carrie is still on the look-out for songs, though. She did say that they were always coming in.

TAHLEQUAH — Exemplifying service and achievement, the outstanding alumni honorees for 2011 will be recognized during homecoming week by the Northeastern State University Alumni Association.

The five alumni will be honored as part of “Truth, Justice and the Northeastern Way,” during half-time of the Saturday football game versus Harding at Doc Wadley Stadium.

• Underwood graduated from NSU in 2006 after a brief hiatus to win the 2005 “American Idol” competition. She is a five-time Grammy Award winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time CMA and ACM Female Vocalist winner and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Since the release of her debut CD in 2005, Underwood has had 13 No. 1 singles and sold more than 13 million albums. She was also named Oklahoman of the Year in 2005.

During her time on campus, Underwood was a Downtown Country performer and worked for The Northeastern newspaper. She also placed in the Miss NSU Scholarship Pageant in 2002 and 2003 and was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority. NSU named her an inaugural Centurion.

Country music star and Checotah native Carrie Underwood and her C.A.T.S Foundation — Checotah Animal, Town and School Foundation — will join more than 200 local volunteers and the organizers from KaBOOM! today to build a new playground at Marshall Elementary School in Checotah.

Underwood will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony to dedicate the new play area at about 2 p.m. at Marshall Elementary School, 205 Owens Ave., Checotah.

The new playground’s design is based on drawings created by children who participated in a Design Day event in August.

The new playground will provide hundreds of children in the Checotah community a safe place to play. The children who attend Marshall Elementary School only have a limited amount of playground equipment to enjoy, according to a media release.

She remains to be the classiest and most giving celebrity I've seen or heard from.
I'm taking it that this is the "heartwarming" announcement, too, which is certainly respectable and exciting. :)
