The one thing I do not want to see Arista doing is a deluxe version of the upcoming Carrie Underwood CD at Target only. I really think that Arista should be getting Underwood as much exposure for her fourth CD as possible, so doing an exclusive retailer thing should be out of the question. Give the fans an outstanding CD the FIRST time. Agreed or make a deluxe version that is available at every retailer along with the original. I believe Kelly did this with her most recent album.

From Carrie's reply, it sounds like the # of songs on the album is the label's decision, but considering that Carrie is a bigger seller than Miranda and Brad (combined, probably), I don't see why she can't get a 15-song album, but others on Sony/Arista can.

I see at least 14 songs on this album, maybe even 16. To be quite honest, I'm simply thankful that we're getting at least 13 songs from each of her albums. I had quite a few dreams/thoughts about this album; some were good and some were disappointing. I'm sure she won't disappoint us, though.
Can't wait to hear what the lead single sounds like. :)

With Revolution, I believe Miranda had to agree to take less in songwriting royalties compared to the standard cut to get 15 songs on the album, so I'd assume that's also true for the other albums as well. Either Carrie doesn't write enough songs per album to make that call, or maybe her management doesn't want her to give up the royalty checks, who knows.

Shania's "Up" had 19 of her own written songs and "Come on Over" had 16. I don't see Luke Lewis back in the day making her take less of a cut! She made enough money on those albums, along with "Woman in Me" not to record a full CD again, and so far she hasn't! Also I doubt that they told Taylor Swift to take less of a cut with her successful self written CDs over the past few years. Sounds like Carrie and Miranda are getting the short end of the stick with their labels with writing royalties in comparison to Taylor and Shania.

It's funny how a few months ago I had a dream that the album was coming out in March, and now it looks like that may actually be the case. I hope I have more dreams that will give us some more clues about this album lol!

We haven't had one of those in over a year now. And future CMA EOTY nomination? HAHAHAHAHAH. Funny that you said that, because I was just on Country Universe re-reading the drama of the 2010 Carrie CMA EOTY snub in all of the comments sections of the articles, and I couldn't help but laugh at how much of a disastrous mess that entire situation was. I won't peg Carrie for any EOTY nods from the CMAs (and after the 2011 snub, maybe the ACMs, too). If it happens, then I'll start supporting her for the win. Until then, I'll just hope for everything else.

Carrie scored a Best Country Solo Performance nomination for "Mama's Song." Nothing for "Remind Me."

I'm shocked but happy. I was sure MS would have no chance of getting nominated and was confident in RM.

I was also one who was sure Remind Me would get some love, but thought Mama's Song had no shot. Congrats, Carrie!

Solo Country Performance No love for RM though... www.grammy.com/nomineesTake that "Mama's Song" haters! being nominated for a grammy still doesnt absolve that mamas song is arguably carries worst single to date (vs so small) i mean, this is the same grammys that nominated hollaback girl for record, daughters for song, and actually awarded milli vanilli as best new artist. grammys is same as any awards show out there - its hit or miss.

I would love to see her win Solo Performance! I think it's possible :)

I am so glad that Mama's Song got a grammy nod, and to the haters that didn't like the song, see what happens when you don't have any faith in her for picking this song in the first place.. for me, a bad song is a bad song, and its not like "oh its suddenly nominated for a grammy, its a good song afterall". like i said, bad artists and bad songs have been nominated for grammys for years. this is nothing new. its the worst in terms of quality. not going to rehash over and over but i remember there was general consensus that there were far better songs that would have made better singles than ms when it came out. for all of the criticism on po, its not like it was lacking in potentially good singles that carrie had no other choice but to pick ms becuase there were no other choices. and chart position is also not an indicator whether a song is good or not. maybe on that note, ms can be considered her worst single because its the only one that enver reached number one, right? anyway, rodney atkins songs get to #1 easily. i think thats enough proof #1 doesnt necessarily equal good. anyway, im with typo. if carrie can get nominated for a dreck like ms, theres no telling how much she can really achieve with releasing that ultimate "next level" album. its all just my opinion of course. i just think that carrie has been nominated, and deservdely so, for far better work in past years than this current grammys. thats all. ps. sucks about remind me. i just noticed that the country duo category only has 4 noms on it??? and they couldnt put remind me to make it the standard 5???

This may help Carrie A LOT in getting a performance slot this year. If the timing is right, her new album would be coming out soon by 2/12/12 and she'll have a single to promote!
With Country not being too heavily represented in the major categories, I only see The Band Perry getting a definite performance slot. The rest of the Country slots are up in the air. I think Taylor, Carrie, and Jason or Blake will take those!

"Mama's Song" is never going to be one of Carrie's greater moments but I've been listening to it a lot lately and I do think it's one of her most expressive vocal performances. There are a lot of neat phrasing things going on there and I hope we get to hear more of that on the upcoming album.
And, yes, I really do believe that with the right album, Carrie could be a legitimate force at the Grammys.

With the right music, single choices, promotion, etc... She could dominate! The thing with the "peak" of her career being so early was that she was "too new" for a lot of these awards... So, she did enough to win them but just hadn't earned the respect yet, I guess. If Carrie were to have another "Some Hearts" or something close to it. Or an album with extensive critical acclaim, she'd sell millions and dominate every award show. She definitely has the fans and talent, she just needs the right music!

I'm not expecting a win, and I think there are definitely more deserving songs, but I hope this helps her get a performance slot. Performing her 1st single from album 4 would be amazing exposure.
I don't understand how "Remind Me" didn't garner a nomination. Did they submit it? Can they re-submit it next year?

Yeah Mama's Song isn't that great, but Carrie still sings the heck out of it. I'm guessing she got in solely due to her vocals.

DEATH BEYOND WORDS. We all expected RM to take nods in the Country category. It not only got shut out, but MS, the song that 98% of all Carrie fans couldn't handle being the fourth single (myself included), gets a fucking nomination. I CAN'T. I'm still pleased & proud, nonetheless. Carrie's a Grammy darling, and this nomination completely certifies that fact. I just... can't. LMAO. I love Carrie to death, but that was the one nod I knew I was going to die of laughter from if she received. I'm in tears right now, to say the least. I'm a proud & happy Carrie fan right now, but shocked & beside myself at the same time. I had to do a double-take to make sure what I heard was right.

But the lyrics are borderline cringe worthy, I think. And like others have said, chart position and a Grammy nod does not make this song any better. I'm not terribly surprised she was nominated, because with her popularity and pure skill, it makes sense for the Grammy's to benefit from nominating her.
