When Y101 plays B.o.B's hits "Nothin' On You" and "Airplanes", they've censor out the word "hell". However, they have no problem with it on Avril Lavigne's "What the Hell". Another inconsistency is where "sex" is edited on "California Gurls" ("sex on the beach" at the beginning of the second verse) and replaced with a moaning noise, while at the same time, the word goes uncensored on "S & M".
I'm not a fan of censoring words in a song, but if it has to be done, at least be consistent and do it for all songs.

I agree with this. I haven't noticed 'hell' (and that's a ridiculous word to censor), but what they do for 'sex' is pretty pathetic. Jeremih is forced to sing about amazing 'shhing' on someone he fancies' birthday, but Akon is allowed to say that that chick is sexy. Also, I have heard the n-word in 'I Need A Doctor.'

I think they're playing radio edits that are distributed to stations - some singles are sent to stations with certain words edited out, other singles are shipped without these words edited

I heard Snoop Dogg's "Sweat" on the radio yesterday and completely inoffensive lines had been completely obscured.
When Mylo's "Doctor Pressure" was a hit five years ago I used to hear it with the word "motherfuckers" intact, probably because it's heavily obscured anyway.

I've also noticed that almost every station censors "ass" in some songs but not in others.

Another case: My local CHR keeps "ass" in for "Ain't No Other Man," but takes it out for "Rockstar." "Bitch" is left in on "Hot N Cold," but of course it played "Sexy Chick."

I'm pretty sure I've heard 'fuck' uncensored in "Look At Me Now", but censored in other parts of the song. Weird.

I think "bitch" is allowed in "Hot N Cold " (at least for stations that let it go uncensored) because its song by a female. No, I'm not calling her or any other woman a b-word, but we know who the word is targeted to. It's much more offensive when a male uses it, which is why I think it's censored for "Sexy Chick".

I'm pretty sure I've heard 'f**k' uncensored in "Look At Me Now", No way - the station would be fined a million dollars for that

I've only heard it on satellite urban stations. But, I did notice "***I'M RACIST***" is left in on the iTunes "clean version" of "I Need a Doctor." Edit: LOL @ the n-word's edit.

I hear that sort of thing all the time. One of the stations here edits out the word sex in "S&M"'s chorus, but they play Jeremih's "Birthday Sex" and Ludacris "What's Your Fantasy" with the word left in. Back in the day, this one station would play Khia's "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" with the strangest censoring. They would bleep the word "lick" during the "do it now, lick it good, suck this just like you should right now, lick it good..." part." But then the chorus comes in, "my neck, my back, lick my *ohh* just like that", it's left in. Another station censored the words lick, suck, neck, back, and tongue in all occurrences, but they played others song with those left in. I'm pretty sure I've heard 'f**k' uncensored in "Look At Me Now", No way - the station would be fined a million dollars for that One of my local stations used to play a song with fuck uncensored very often and nothing ever happened. It was usually played at night.

Just heard 'Super Bass' with the N-word on two different stations. Being 2:33am doesn't make it allowed, does it?

One of my local stations used to play a song with f**k uncensored very often and nothing ever happened. It was usually played at night. Active rocker KIOZ San Diego played "Creep" by Radiohead with the f-word. The part in the clean version that says "You're so very special" is "You're so f***ing special" in the dirty version.

I heard 'Smile' with 'bitch' intact - weird 'cause they played the normal censored edit for 's**t' and 'f**k' in the following lines, and also 'bitch' was censored in 'Don't Wanna Go Home' directly after. I've also been hearing 'S&M' lately with only half of the occurrences of 'sex' censored, the other half left intact, how weird.

This is weird: AT40 just played "S & M" and they censor the word "sex" in one part of the song, but didn't do it on another portion.
