Taylor = irrelevant in this discussion/thread.
Adele is a motherf***ing beast. Surprised she hasn't done Idol or SNL. Maybe she'll be on the SNL Premier in the fall? SFTTR and RHI? Thought perhaps she'll sing RITD with Haley...could be perfect.
I know Lil' Wayne & Beyonce are coming soon but I think there's a possibility that this won't be her last week at #1. For all we know, she could be on top come this Holiday season.

Who cares about the Metacritic score? The public is loving her.

I'm sure SNL wanted Adele to come back, and I'm sure Adele would have been all up for it, since it is considered what gave her a career in the US...but she has been on tour and SNL also had other big acts to give a shot to. I would be shocked if Adele doesn't perform before the end of 2011 on the next season.

459k - 750k is a pretty wide span. Pretty much useless information at this point.

I think it's pretty much just their expectations. I'm taking everything with a grain of salt until we get the post-first day sales projections.

Born This Way will have a full seven days of sales, which won't hurt the cause. Whether it helps it is another matter- I'm a believer that anyone who wants the album that first week would get it from Tuesday-Sunday, anyhow.

Metacritic music scores are a joke. Every album is in the green (generally positive reviews). I don't put much stock in it. For TV and movies, it's different, but music I don't really pay attention to it. Good for Adele. I believe the longest-running #1 album by a female artist is "Tapestry," is it not? I'm a huge Carole King fan and am not sure on that one. Can someone clarify? Adele could challenge that after Gaga's sales fall in subsequent weeks after her debut.

I have a feeling people are going to be disappointed when she only sells 450k :( I don't know if it is going to be as big as we all think :/

"Born This Way" cost a prohibitive $0.99 on Amazon right now...

She has no excuse not to sell a million or at least 850K because people who might not even like the material this era would but liked TF & TFM would buy it because it's only a dollar.

Discounting the album eh? Not surprised. Her team are going all out for huge sales the first week and pulling out every possible stop with the promo in every possible store, city, public transport, bathroom stall, etc.
Her sales should be in excess of 750k...if it's anywhere as low as 450k-550k, that's a huge disappointment.

IT has already been pointed out that the Amazon deal is an Amazon's estrategy... to get people to buy more stuff at pnce (shipping cost + whatever)...
They choose something that people might be interested in buying and they give the discount, but then you have to buy some other stuff... Amazon is paying regular price for those albums...
This thing happened with KW, and there's even an articule by Billboard explaining this... So even if I'm not in team Gaga, this is not cheating the charts...

So did Walmart not report yet, since the 10K they sold of BTW should have appeared?

^Interscope will probably have the number held over since it was a street date violation.
I wonder what sales always come in first? I know it's supposedly different every week, but I feel like the past few weeks have come in the same orders. Pink keeps being around 11-13 in the first updates and then ending up at 25-32. Lol. It must be whatever retailers she's selling the most at.

^But, it's the HITS chart. (They will withhold the numbers for SoundScan.)
HITS will report the figures if Walmart releases the figures.

I think a number like 10,000 from one retailer a day or two before street date is kind of exaggerated. I mean if it was something that was advertised that's one thing, but it seems like people would have had to be in the right place at the right time, so 10,000 people doing that seems awfully high.

Well 10,000 people over a weekend across a nation filled with Wal Marts is not to hard to believe. I don't get why they would be held, since they are hardly ever held. Every album has street date violations, albeit it's usually between 50-100 copies, etc.

Hmmm. No GaGa. Guess she didn't have street violations in excess of 9,400. looks like we may never know.
