GAGA'S AMAZING AMAZON SALE: Today’s unprecedented sale of the new Lady Gaga album, Born This Way, for 99 cents at Amazon has the disc threatening the digital download record of 288k set by Coldplay’s Viva la Vida. Label chief Steve Berman's thorough campaign has the record blowing out everywhere, with first-week sales estimates ranging from 750k to a high of a million. Meanwhile, iTunes, selling the regular version at $11.99 and $15.99 for the deluxe, had already threatened to pull down its splash page advertising for the album if it appeared on any other competing digital site, particularly its chief rival, though so far, the disc is still being promoted by Apple. Insiders are applauding Amazon for the loss-leader move, which is seen as a way of promoting its new cloud service. Will Soundscan count the 99-cent downloads in its total for Gaga? (5/23p)

link please?
Hmmm. If iTunes does take down BTW since Amazon is selling BTW for 99 cents, it might actually help it sell more. But, will SS count the sales? Well, they should despite the really, really low price. It's all business. It would be nice if GaGa would sell a million. This year has been good sales wise

This could be fake. It always happen when someone big releases album that people post fake updates. Album has been on sale for less tan 24 hours, I doubt there are any predictions based on sales. I googled this article and nothing.

Amazing sales, interesting about the Itunes thing. 99 Cents is such a fucking steal though, individual songs are more than that..lol!

Rumor Mill predictions are usually sort of off though. The real first days will give us a clearer picture of where it stands. I still don't feel like it will hit a million, but I am hoping for a solid 700-900K now **crosses fingers**

HITS:
GAGA ADD: Sources report that Wal Mart has violated street date by selling the Lady Gaga album, Born This Way, over the weekend, with estimates of more than 10,000 moved, meaning the release could end up debuting on tomorrow’s HITS Top 50 sales chart.

Discounting the album eh? Not surprised. Her team are going all out for huge sales the first week and pulling out every possible stop with the promo in every possible store, city, public transport, bathroom stall, etc. Her sales should be in excess of 750k...if it's anywhere as low as 450k-550k, that's a huge disappointment. Prophetution. :'( And @ Gaga's team playing Apple by doing that 99c thing with Amazon. Shady, shady.

iTunes taking it down I think will benefit BTW imo, since the $1 pricetag is such a steal, but it's only for a day though!

.99 for the whole album? Why? Taylor Swift was able to sell a million selling her album @ $9.99.

It's Amazon's marketing move, not Gaga's.
Why wouldn't Soundscan include those sales? I don't understand why they even brought it up.

I was asking why? Not jumping down GAGA's throat. Good God! Because Amazon wants to, that's why. They are drinking the kool-aid. Have a sip. It's better than whatever Trailer is offering.

It's obviously Gaga's move. i don't blame her. Sending out three singles before release, they have to pull something to cover up the anxiety. The general public is probably not aware of the motives behind it.
