I just noticed something Gaga : BTW 9 weeks, Judas 1 week, EOG 2 weeks Britney : HIAM 5 weeks, TTWE 8 weeks Britney has spent more time in the Top10 this era than Gaga But EOG is new though. Still, it's been an impressive era for Britney so far despite stalling at #3 on pop, she did however gained her highest AI and spins with both singles.

TTWE has at least 4 more weeks, and then IWG will get some hopefully, so the end result shouldnt be too far off :)

Yes!! New peak for Bey...lol! Top 30 :) Now let's hope single #2 does a little better! Don't worry it wont. It'll be lucky to hit the Top 40.

This is Queen B we're talkin' about, not Damita Jo. (JK, Damita's one of my favorite females). I haven't heard the next single- is it more of a radio track than RTW?

Didn't you just say you "like it a little bit"? I was speaking in terms of radio, the song is a stinker. This era is just like the 20YO era. Call On Me came out and it did better than RTW did. Everyone thought the second single would save the era and it didn't. So Excited was a HUGE FLOP!

Everyone thought the second single would save the era and it didn't. So Excited was a HUGE FLOP! This era has nothing similar to 20 Y.O. except both first singles underperformed. But there were also albums that had a flop first single but quickly recovered, how about some similarity to those? Run This World underperformed because it is not radio-friendly, but Call On Me was totally relevant to the market at that time. Also Beyonce just had a very successful era, and is getting all the positive press. When Janet released 20 Y.O., she barely recovered from the lowest point of her career and had no significant sign of coming back from it. Completely different case.

I do agree that So Excited could have done more on charts if it was decently pushed. Which is why I think Beyonce will be fine as she has pretty much all the resource available, and this song is definitely a lot safer and mass pleasing than the first single.

I think it'll do better at urban out of the gate ... not so sure about pop. But, who knows?

That's exactly my point. Beyonce doesn't have the baggage Janet had yet she's still flopping out of control. Her new song isn't even top 200 yet. I think this would surpass my expectations if this hit the Top 40 on Itunes before the album release date at all or ended up becoming a hit without some sort of remix to carry it.

LOL, so thats why you hate on Beyonce so much! Your bitter about how Janet's career has fallen off, and you want Bey to go down the same path. Man thats ridiculous, you should let that go, Janet is a Legend even if she doesn't have commercial success anymore!

At least "Call on Me" was a hit SOMEWHERE. It went top 5 urban. #1 R&B on Billboard COM hit #1 after physical single released. At that time, BB counted physical sale from "R&B based record stores" in the R&B chart. I remember it jumped from like 8 - 1 suddenly and then BB explained. I can't remember original peak. Sales were quite small. ITA - Janet was mishandled on so many levels during that period.

MikeCheck, to be fair, I take "jabs" at ALL "divas" at some point or another in terms of the charts- even Her Madgesty. ;)
Is Beyonce's next single already on iTunes?

Beyonce got a #1 R&B hit with "Deja Vu" doing the same thing around the same time. There were so few CD singles that a major artist could get a #1 on the R&B chart without even having to sell that much. This was also when Billboard was doubling single sales because they were so low.

Beyonce's new single has only been on iTunes for several hours, without a banner on the main page... I mean come on, we all know she's not "flopping out of control", some people just really want to believe that. She released one single, didn't do well (for her level) because it wasn't radio friendly, simple as that, it's not like she desperately released a thousand songs already...

Week Ending May 29, 2011. Songs: He Was In It To Win It Posted 17 minutes ago by Paul Grein in Chart Watch Share retweet Scotty McCreery's "I Love You This Big," the first single by the new American Idol champ, enters the Hot 100 at #11. Lauren Alaina's "Like My Mother Does," the first single by this year's Idol runner-up, debuts at #20. These songs have already outpaced the singles by last year's top two Idol finishers. Lee DeWyze's cover of U2's "Beautiful Day" peaked at #24. Crystal Bowersox's reading of Patty Griffin's "Up On The Mountain" stalled at #57..
McCreery is 17 years and seven months old, which makes him one of the youngest former Idol contestants ever at the time of their first Hot 100 hits. Season 6 winner Jordin Sparks was 17 years and five months old in June 2007 when she charted with three songs, including her coronation song, "This Is My Now." Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta was the same age in June 2008 when he charted with three songs, including a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine.".
McCreery and Alaina scored even higher on Hot Digital Songs. "I Love You This Big" ranked #3 on that chart (171K). "Like My Mother Does" ranked #11 (121K)..
Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" tops the Hot 100 for the fourth straight week. This marks the second time in the past few years that a song by a female British artist has logged four weeks at #1. Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" achieved the same feat in the spring of 2008. "Rolling In The Deep" tops the 3 million mark this week, as digital sales swell to 3,219,000 copies. "Bleeding Love" has sold 4,168,000 copies. "Bleeding Love" received a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. "Rolling In The Deep" is certain to be included in that category when this year's nominations are announced in December..
Pitbull's zesty "Give Me Everything" (featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer) moves up from #3 to #2 on the Hot 100. It also logs its second week at #1 in the U.K. It's vying to become the second song to top both the charts in both countries in 2011. Bruno Mars' "Grenade" was the first. .
"Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock dips from #8 to #9. LMFAO is a Los Angeles-based dance/rap duo which consists of Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) and SkyBlu (Skyler Gordy), the son and nephew, respectively of Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr. Another of Gordy's sons, Rockwell, had a #2 hit in 1984 with "Somebody's Watching Me." Michael Jackson (then at the very peak of his Thriller success) sang an uncredited backup vocal on "Somebody's Watching Me," which may have had a little something to do with its success..
"I'm On One" by DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne vaults from #78 to #10 in its second week on the Hot 100. It's DJ Khaled's first 10 hit. It's also the first top 10 hit for Ross; the sixth for Drake and the 14th for Lil Wayne..
DJ Khaled's biggest hit before this was "I'm So Hood," which reached #19 in 2007. (That song also featured Rick Ross, along with T-Pain, Trick Daddy and Plies.).
DJ Khaled, who is a Miami-based record producer, radio personality, DJ and record company executive, is the third act whose name begins with the phrase "DJ" to land a top 10 hit. He follows D.J. Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, which reached #4 in 1991 with "Summertime" and DJ Sammy & Yanou featuring Do, which hit #8 in 2002 with "Heaven.".
I have more good news for DJ Khaled (real name: Khaled Bin Abdul Khaled). His 2010 hit "All I Do Is Win" tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. The song, which reached #24 on the Hot 100, featured T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and (yet again) Rick Ross..
Taio Cruz's 2010 smash "Dynamite" this week becomes the first hit by a British artist to top the 5 million mark in digital sales. It edges out Coldplay's 2008 hit "Viva La Vida," which has sold 4,977,000 copies. "Dynamite" is the 12th song overall to top 5 million in digital sales. The top-selling hit by a British artist ever (counting the pre-digital era) is Elton John's "Candle In The Wind 1997," which sold more than 8 million physical singles in the U.S. in 1997. You thought maybe I was going to say something by the Beatles? They did pretty well too..
Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs..
.
1. Adele, "Rolling In The Deep." The song holds at #1 for the fourth straight week in its 21st week on the chart. This is its ninth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (254K)..
2. Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer, "Give Me Everything." The song jumps from #3 to #2 in its ninth week on the chart. This is its fourth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (210K)..
3. Katy Perry featuring Kanye West, "E.T." The former #1 smash dips from #2 to #3 in its 16th week on the chart. This is its 14th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #7 (148K)..
4. Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull, "On The Floor." The song rebounds from #5 to #4 in its 14th week on the chart. This is its 13th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #9 (130K)..
5. The Black Eyed Peas, "Just Can't Get Enough." The song dips from #4 to #5 in its 15th week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #13 (109K)..
6. Bruno Mars, "The Lazy Song." The song holds at #6 for the second week in its 14th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #8 (138K)..
7. Britney Spears, "Till The World Ends." The song holds at #7 for the second week in its 13th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #12 (117K)..
8. Lady Gaga, "The Edge Of Glory." The song rebounds from #19 to #8 in its third week on the chart. This is its second week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (165K)..
9. LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, "Party Rock Anthem." The song dips from #8 to #9 in its 10th week on the chart. The song spent four weeks at #1 in the U.K. in April and May. Digital sales rank: #6 (154K)..
10. DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne, "I'm On One." The song jumps from #78 to #10 in its second week. Digital sales rank: #5 (159K)..
.
Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week. Lupe Fiasco's "The Show Goes On" drops from #9 to #12. "Look At Me Now" by Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes drops from #10 to #13. Lupe Fiasco's new song, "Out Of My Head" (featuring Trey Songz) debuts at #98..
Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" jumps from #15 to #14 in its fifth week. It's vying to become Minaj's highest-charting hit on which she was the lead artist, topping "Moment 4 Life" (featuring Drake), which peaked at #13. Digital sales rank: #10 (128K)..
Jason Derulo's "Don't Wanna Go Home" vaults from #92 to #18 in its second week. The song samples "Banana Boat (Day-O)," a #5 hit for Harry Belafonte in 1957. Remarkably, this is the second time this year that a hit song has contained a sample of Belafonte's classic. Lil Wayne sampled the song on "6 Foot 7 Foot" (featuring Cory Gunz), which cracked the top 10 in January. The folk group the Tarriers entered the chart with the song in December 1956, a few weeks before Belafonte did. The Tarriers' version also climbed one notch higher on the chart than Belafonte's did. But Belafonte's version has better stood the test of time. It was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2009..
Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" jumps from #50 to #29 in its sixth week, which is its highest ranking to date. The song debuted and originally peaked at #33. Beyonce also debuts with a new song, "1+1," which opens at #57. Both songs are from the superstar's forthcoming album, 4..
Five more Glee songs enter the Hot 100. All were featured in "New York," the final episode of Season 2. "Light Up The World" bows at #33, followed by "Pretending" at #40, "For Good" at #58, "I Love New York/New York, New York" at #81 and "As Long As You're There" at #93..
"For Good" is from the 2003 Broadway show Wicked. (The Wicked version has sold 268K copies.) "I Love New York"/"New York, New York" is a patented Glee mash-up of songs of disparate origins. The first song is from Madonna's 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor. The second is from the classic 1949 Gene Kelly/Frank Sinatra movie On The Town..
Two more Lady Gaga songs enter the Hot 100. "You And I" bows at #36. "Marry The Night" bows at #79. Both songs are from her new Born This Way album, which sold rather well this week. You already know that if you read Chart Watch: Albums. If you missed it, here's a link..
Rihanna's "California King Bed" vaults from #80 to #66 in its second week. The song is vying to become the fourth straight #1 hit from Loud, following "Only Girl In The World," "What's My Name" (featuring Drake) and "S&M" (sometimes featuring Britney Spears). This would make Loud the second album of the past year, following Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, to generate four #1 hits. Will it do it? Place your bets. (Yet another Rihanna song, "Man Down," debuts at #94.).
Lil Wayne's "How To Love" bows at #69. It's the third single from the forthcoming Tha Carter IV. It follows the aforementioned "6 Foot 7 Foot" and "John.".
"Rise Above 1" by Reeve Carney featuring Bono and The Edge bows at #74. The song is from the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Bono and The Edge have had six top 10 hits with U2. The two other members of the band, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, cracked the top 10 in 1996 with a side project of their own, "Theme From Mission: Impossible.".
Mac Miller's "Donald Trump" bows at #80. Miller is a 19-year old rapper from Pittsburgh. I suspect that Trump would have rather been the subject of Bruno Mars' charming "Billionaire" than this hard-core and profane rap track. This is one of two current hits named after high-profile personalities. Duck Sauce's "Barbra Streisand," which reached #89 on the Hot 100, has sold 212,000 digital copies..
. The Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. The group's previous hit, "The Time (Dirty Bit)," is closing in on 3 million. (It's at 2,930,000.) So shouldn't the Peas' album The Beginning have sold more than 684,000 copies after six months in release? If this were 2005, I'd say yes. Today, all bets are off..
The Band Perry's "If I Die Young" this week becomes the 11th country song to reach the 2 million mark in digital sales. Only three other country groups have reached this plateau: Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band and Rascal Flatts. The Band Perry is a family trio consisting of Kimberly Perry (who wrote "If I Die Young'') and her brothers Reid and Neil. "If I Die Young" reached #1 on Hot Country Songs in December..
Three songs top the 2 million mark in digital sales this week: OneRepublic's "Secrets" and a pair of hit collabos: "Look At Me Now" by Chris Brown featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes and the aforementioned "All I Do Is Win"...Wiz Khalifa's "Roll Up" tops the 1 million mark..
Sometimes songs are so big, they're almost impossible to follow. Debby Boone's "You Light Up My Life," which topped the Hot100 for 10 weeks in 1977, is a case in point. Boone never made it back to the top 40. The song's writer, Joseph Brooks, never made it back to the top 20. (His biggest hit post-"Life" was Roberta Flack's "If Ever I See You Again," which reached #24 in 1978.) I'm sure you read that Brooks committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. It was a sad ending for someone whose song brought hope to millions. He was 73.. .

Beyonce is obviously not the kind of singer that can have every new song on iTunes flying up the chart like crazy, she's simply NOT. If I remember right, even when IASF got released, only 4-5(?) songs went into Top 100 in the first day.
