The physical single (of which 1.3 million were sold) costs 1600 yen, which is $20.

Why would anyone buy 20 physical copies of a single, let alone 5,500 But it's nice to see that physical albums/singles are still alive in Japan

Physical singles for Japanese acts still sell pretty well- wonder why that is. Is the act very teeny-bopper-driven? The cover looks to indicate as much.

^You don't even know the half of it. The creepiest part is their biggest fans tend to be 40yr old men.

In the past, so many Japanese versions of albums have had bonus tracks as an incentive for people in Japan to buy domestic, because imports are generally cheaper there. Maybe that's not the case anymore.

Well it does help that they have 10 FREAKING BAND MEMBERS! According to last.fm they are actually comprised of 48 people, divided into 3 sub-groups of 16. How... extravagant. They sure don't hold back on the gimmick over there, do they? And seeing that this is their 8th consecutive #1, it sure seems to be working. Anyway, from the crappy youtube video, the song sounds catchy enough, though it doesn't sound all that different from the multitude of jubilant manga themes I've heard.

I think this group is really on the borderline of the lolita/paedophile frontier.

I think this group is really on the borderline of the lolita/paedophile frontier. I watched one of their live performances and the cameras kept zooming in on their chests and these girls are like 12.

^ Creepy indeed....
... and that fan buys 5,500 copies (at $20.00 each pop) and he lives in such a crappy apartment.
