West Memphis 3 benefit single available today at radio. Not a big fan of their singles in general, but this is one of the greatest causes ever.

It was shipped overnight to radio last night. Do you mean it's been available from Apple or something? I clarified the original post. Sorry for the confusion.

On Thursday, April 28, Disturbed announced that their previously unreleased bonus track off of Asylum, "3", would be available for download off of their website. They said that all proceeds made from the download of the song would go towards the Damien Echols Defense Fund, a benefit foundation supporting the release of the West Memphis Three.

We'll see by tomorrow's dailies if radio will attach to this now that Warrior starts its tumble.

Warrior was the 4th, although radio barely touched Asylum (73 peak on Active). This is just an independent single.

What is your basis for claiming that "Asylum" was a single other than that it reached #73 on active rock? I don't remember it ever being a single.

Yeah, unsolicited airplay wouldn't really count, I don't think. It just had that video. That's it.

Yeah, I was going with the fact it had a vinyl and CD release, a music video, and a radio edit (although I'm not sure if it was for length or content). I'll check to see if it had a radio date.
In general, album tracks not going to radio do not make the top 100 of either Alternative or Active. The exceptions being singles out before the album. I believe Asylum fell under the latter category.

"Asylum" was a single, guys, Artie's right. But, it wasn't a radio single, so technically "Warrior is #3 (radio-wise).

Yeah those aren't singles, Artie, if you think they are. ;)
"Asylum" was released as a compact-disc and digital download along with "Warrior" (digitally), I think though.

Agreed, many stations play full albums never intended for radio. But a combination of a radio edit, vinyl/CD release, music video, and radio airplay would certainly qualify.

^ The radio airplay doesn't qualify it as a radio single per say, a radio edit doesn't either unless it was actually pushed, music videos are made for many non-singles (Serj Tankian made one for every song on Elect the Dead), and a CD/vinyl release definitely doesn't qualify it as a radio single.
This is much like "Perfect Insanity" from Indestructible, which wasn't pushed to radio, but had a CD/vinyl and digital release.

Disturbed have had three radio singles this era. End of. Why are we even discussing this with Artie? It's like talking to a brick wall.

Individually, we all would agree. But the key word in my reply was combination. All four at the same time undoubtedly qualify Asylum as the second official single from this album. Frankly, I think they figured it was getting the response they wanted, so they hurried The Animal out a month or so later. radio airplay doesn't qualify it as a radio single... a radio edit doesn't either... music videos are made for many non-singles... CD/vinyl release definitely doesn't qualify it

Sorry, it was NOT getting the radio response they had hoped.
