HOT CHELLE RAE - Tonight Tonight: 26.813 (+ 0.662) #11 on iTunes. I knew this would smash  I didn't notice this song climbing at all. And I honestly didn't know who they was and I thought they're an r&b/rap artist the first time Finally checked out the song, I think it could perform like 'Gives You Hell" if the rise in airplay and sales continue, it's very catchy Interesting thought. Could this be a dark horse and thus the biggest interference for Last Friday Night? |

Surprised that EOG is actually accelerating its growth rather than slowing down. I doubt it will surpass its initial #3 peak but it may end up one of her biggest airplay hits.

I'd think any track with an audience total higher than the ones included in the main updates should be included, as well, no? Especially if the audience is as high as that Lil Wayne track.
Adele could score another hit, but, yeah, unlikely to be as big as RITD at radio. "Someone Like You" is a good track, but ballads are a tough sell these days. "Rumor Has It" is a hit at Triple A radio.

Ballads just aren't big in the current climate, which is another strike against RiRi's latest single. Ballads....slow songs....they're poison in the latest chart climate. Which is a first in the Hot 100's 50 plus year history. |

As "Way" makes AC chart history, follow-up "Grenade" bullets at No. 11 (after topping the Hot 100 for four weeks) and latest single "The Lazy Song" debuts at No. 30 (a week after reaching No. 4 on the Hot 100). Mars' debut album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 3 the week of Oct. 23, 2010, and has spent its first 35 weeks in the chart's top 40. What happened to ballads on CHR? I've noticed a drop-off all decade
I have heard theories that Celine's MHWGO was so overplayed that it changed the programming paradigm, and outside of American Idol Coronation songs and midtempo r&b singles (like Usher's Burn or Bleeding Love) big hit ballads have been few & far between. I wonder why.
