She might get next week (after BME, before Beyonce). And if SFTTR catches on, she could really move up on that list.

It is mind-boggling to see how aggressively how even the Associated Press in some instances are spinning the story regarding Lady Gaga's inevitable descent from behemoth first-week sales over these past two weeks. As I logged on to check my Yahoo e-mail just now, what title do I read: Older album knocks Gaga off top of chartsA young artist's four-month-old effort topples Lady Gaga's latest on the best-sellers list.Funny how, after the Foo Fighters were replaced once more by Adele at the top of the chart upon debuting at #1, that journalists/contributors didn't specify an "older album" dislodging "Wasting Light"............but Adele. Or even when Adele will all but inevitably return to the top after Bad Meets Evil presumably debut on top next week because, after all..............it's an EP! * The article, itself, while surfeit of researched chart data, nonetheless makes some logical fallacies, including this one: Says who? It's one thing to claim, all things considered (chart success, commercial acclaim, cross-genre appeal, etc.) why many see Adele as quite likely the one to beat. But it's another thing to flat out claim she is the "frontrunner" when the Grammy Awards are more than six months away and the eligibility period for the 2012 Grammy Awards stretches for nearly another four months, if I recall correctly. All in all I see Paul Grein is at least trying to sound neutral in that he does his research..........so it baffles me why he couldn't contain himself there. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

It is a 4 month old album that knocked off a fairly new album from the charts
One of the points of the article was that it is not everyday that an album this old CLIMBS to #1
The fact that it replaced Gaga is irrelevant

Except that Gaga has been acting as if she's reinvented the pop album ... no one expected that, say, the Foo Fighters would stay at number 1 for long. But Gaga ... when you build such great expectations, you bring on the inevitable critics. Take a gander, the bigger they are the harder they fall...

I don't see releases from Kelly Clarkson or Mimi Carey being ones that would rack up big numbers (well, most albums these days don't see BIG numbers, but). Excluding any others, there always could be an Adele-like breakout, though. kelly could at least contribute a gold album with a proper single, which isnt bad at all

Yeah, 3.99 one-day sale on Amazon mp3 and iTunes $7.99 for the week. Still, satisfying to see it at 17k this week when we originally thought 12k

Interscope really overshipped Lady Gaga's album (2.1 million were shipped to stores). Her sales breakdown as of this week is 720,000 (Digital) and 664,000 (Physical). With the album dropping like it is and the majority of the sales being digital, this might end up with 1 million unsold copies in stores. This might be a wake up call to not shop over 1 million+ copies (Unless of course it's Taylor or Eminem).

The retailers got killed by the Amazon 99 cents deal. I guess the label takes the loss in the end though.

Lovely to see the use of "end up" and "in the end" after the album has been out for 3 weeks and has a fast-growing single out atm.
It's not a holiday album by Susan Boyle which is relevant for 3 weeks a year.

What Living Legend said would be true if it sells around 2.5 million, and that's being optimistic...to sell that much it would need an average of around 60k/week until January...

That wasn't a knock on Gaga. That was to point out that it is not every day that a 4 month old album RISES to #1
Those upset by this should try reafing the artucle again

I did, I got the main point as Adele's accession to #1 for an album this old is rather unusual.

If it was Gaga or Jackie Evancho, I don't think it would have made a difference
A 4 month old album knocks a 3 week old album out of the top spot. That is the story here
Not Paul Grien hates Gaga
