Released in late 1983 from her album Preppie. Hit #1 R&B, #69 Pop. This was one of the first songs produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (if not the first) and was their first R&B #1.
I love this song.

It was one of Jam & Lewis' earlier productions (especially as far as major hits go), but it wasn't the first. I believe the first single they ever produced was Klymaxx's "Wild Girls" in 1981 (a couple of years before "Encore").

I like the 12 inch version. Didn't know this song existed until I heard it on one of those 80s/R&B old school internet stations that I used to listen to. The only Cheryl Lynn song that I actually heard on FM radio when I was younger was her 1978 disco hit "Got to Be Real".
