Look at Nicki Minaj go. Except for "Right Thru Me", all of her official "Pink Friday" singles were top 10 airplay smashes.

"Best Thing I Never Had" has not surpassed the audience peak of "Run the World," correct? I forget what its Mediabase peak was, but it peaked at No. 51 on Hot 100 Airplay/Radio Songs (that position usually sees audience totals around 22m-24m).

MAROON 5 F/CHRISTINA AGUILERA - Moves Like Jagger: 0.373 (+ 0.268) Future summer hit! I hope it will debut within top 10 or at least top 15 Hot 100 which is already great for Xtina!

Gaga really slowed down her updates in the past week or so, although she's still gaining decently -- I wonder if the bad buzz about the video affected airplay. It should still go top 5 though on airplay.

Some outlets praised the video, though. I doubt listeners stopped requesting the track because the video didn't live up to past clips or anything. it probably will reach top 5 airplay, at the least- which is smashing following "Judas."

Honestly I haven't heard a single friend of mine say anything positive about the EOG video, and my social group is chock full of Gaga "stans." Not sure that "outlets" matter as much as fan reaction. :)
But I do think it'd be a bit odd if that actually translated into an effect on airplay. Maybe Gaga is just reaching her natural potential audience peak.

^Yes, radio programmers have more to say about airplay than "outlets" or even listeners. :) being a third single, the track obviously has clicked with listeners, otherwise it would not be where it's at in airplay right now. I never saw TEOG as attaining her absolute highest audience peak, even though it is one of my favorites from her. But, we'll see how it moves over the next couple of weeks.

As amazing as TEOG is, the video definitely did put a damper on it. Anyway,
BEYONCE - Best Thing I Never Had: 20.781 (+ 1.182)

^Yeah, but it's not like all of her videos were grand spectacles. But, the "Judas" clip was another big production, and and that did not help the track at all. TEOG could not keep up the level of gains it was seeing- few tracks could.

I thought the "stans" are the ones who criticized the video most as it wasn't as flamboyant, gay, special and as outrageous as they wanted it to be. It was too simple and perhaps a bit rushed for them.

^That's... kind of offensive? I think most people just found it boring and awkwardly edited. Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend" was similarly just a singer dancing solo, but that got a great response online, so I don't think that people were upset that the video wasn't "gay" enough.

It was more about the video being flat-out boring, lifeless and subpar by Gaga's standards. Other than some choice lighting in parts, there simply isn't anything to write home about the TEOG clip. A video along the lines of the Google Chrome commercial wouldn't have been outrageous at all but would have garnered far less disappointment.

Of course it didn't help it's radio play but I remember it getting a significant-ish boost after the video premiered.

Yeah "Judas" definitely got an iTunes boost (albeit a short-term one) but then again it was lower on the iTunes chart when the video came out. EoG was already #5 (I think) when the video premiered and it didn't appear to increase its % at all.

"Judas" had rebounded from the 20s to, what, No. 10 or 11, after the video premiered? That's an alright boost, nothing extraordinary, though. I think TEOG was around No. 7 when the video premiered.
Nonetheless, the point being that "Judas" was a grand production, but only did so much for the sales- and, of course, nothing for the airplay. TEOG already was an airplay smash when the video premiered, and was doing decent sales, too. So the simple video probably isn't really "hurting" it.

I thought Judas boosted from like, 29 to 7 or 8. That is a pretty good boost for me especially since at that point it was stalled on radio and dropping down Itunes pretty quickly. I definitely think an amazing video for TEOG would have made it gain a little rather than actually lose a little bit of sales. But, what can you do? Not every video is going to click :/

The period covered would be 6/17-6/23, stanr. ;)
"California King Bed" is not top 40 at Hot AC, and the pop gains continue to be alright, but nothing exciting.
"Best Thing I Never Had" isn't doing terribly, in terms of formats- it's top 30 at pop, rhythmic and urban. Surprised Urban AC isn't giving it much play as of yet.
"I'm into You's" pop gains, like CKB, are not that huge, and it has lost a few spins at rhythmic. it's a no-show in the urban top 40. Clearly among the two tracks that went for official airplay last week, "I Wanna Go" is winning that "battle."

The problem with the EoG video isn't that it's more simplistic. That would have been great were it well executed. The problem is that she's bored and disengaged for most of it. I love the outfit and the lighting. I like the theme of it, but she's a very expressive and emotional performer so when she doesn't want to be there, we can feel it.

Well, "we" would be the mega-monsters, I guess. For the casual viewer, they won't notice as much. Plus, radio is audio. ;)

I'm really surprised Urban AC and Urban aren't giving it that much but I wouldn't say it's doing terribly at all. It's moving it's way at a decent pace, it's just that there's a lot of competition on the charts now and there are songs that are gaining faster than it. But anyhoo, great AI gain BEYONCE - Best Thing I Never Had: 21.688 (+ 0.907)Gained more between Urban/Rhythmic than Pop today. This. It's very shabbily executed and the general public clearly do realize something's off about the video because it's the only time a video of hers has been released and the song declines in digital sales.

I just wish GaGa would have stuck with the Mermaid themed concept like her and Joseph Kahn had originally put to place. It would have been a dynamic video.

Clearly among the two tracks that went for official airplay last week, "I Wanna Go" is winning that "battle." Jennifer just had her first hit in years, while Britney is coming off three back-to-back top 5 hits. It seems only logical that radio would jump on the latter's new single faster.

^That, and also that Lopez is not as likely to score multiple big hits from her album as Spears.
