Produced by L.A. Reid & Babyface This was the 2nd single and biggest hit from Shalamar's 9th album "Circumstantial Evidence". This peaked at #11 on the R&B chart back in 1987. This song is definitely a late 80's jam and I'm a shocked it wasn't a bigger hit. I think it received a decent amount of recurrent play from R&B radio in the early/mid 90's. I haven't heard this on the radio since i was about 8 though I think this incarnation of the group could have possibly done better chart-wise if they were pushed as a brand new group instead of the recent incarnation of "Shalamar". "Circumstantial Evidence" is actually a pretty well executed late 80's R&B/Pop album with L.A. Reid & Babyface producing 6 of the 8 songs on the album.

After Jody Watley left, Shalamar went significantly down hill. After Howard Hewett left too, they were worthless. This is a complete rip-off of Cameo's "Single Life" which was a much better song.

I love both songs but i hadn't noticed how similar they were until i had my iPod on shuffle the other day and they came on back to back, with that said "Circumstantial Evidence" is pretty good album. However, their last album "Wake Up" was just an embarrassing attempt to stay relevant.

It's decent, though not among my all around favorite Shalamar songs (Take That To The Bank, A Night To Remember, This Is for the Lover in You, Right In The Socket, etc are far superior to me)
