Happy 41st birthday, AT40!

Your gift, this year, is a new longevity record holder. "Dynamite" spends an, unprecidented, 51st week on the chart. As slow as the song's been dropping, it may extend it's lead by several more weeks.

Other than that, it was, pretty much, business as usual. The only "special" thing Ryan did to commemorate the show's anniversary was right before announcing #1. He played snippets of the #1 hits from 40 years ago (Carole King - It's Too Late), 30 years ago (George Harrison - All Those Years Ago), 20 years ago (Paula Abdul - Rush Rush), and 10 years ago (Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, and Pink - Lady Marmalade) this week.

Loved hearing the 71/81/91/01 #1's. He should've played more of them though (like 20-30 seconds).

Seems like the chart is catching up again, with some large moves, particularly Pitbull and Nicki.

It should be noted that "All Those Years Ago" was #1 on R&R, which makes sense since that's the history they've been using since 1998 when Casey restarted AT40. Otherwise it would've been "Bette Davis Eyes."

Correct (I, too, checked to see which history they were using). "All Those Years Ago" peaked at #2 on Billboard. The only Billboard #1 on the list would've been "It's Too Late", as R&R didn't exist until the fall of 1973.

I listen to the show on KBKS-FM in Seattle right now. They count them down to the #11 and the Breakout without a problem. Then, the final hour started with Written In The Stars. They mistakenly play the portion from the last week's show...
Then, they are back to this week's show with the second segment of the Hour 4 with The Edge of Glory.

Y'know, I've listened to KBKS's stream a few times and playing portions of the previous week's show seems to be a frequent problem for them. How and why they can constantly screw up the playback of a pre-recorded program, I have no idea.

A good book about AT40 that came out in '99 is American Top 40-
The Countdown of the Century by Rob Durkee. I read it when it came out.
We have to say goodbye to Say Hello to Goodbye, almost.
Katy Perry sure likes subtitles in parentheses.
They keep moving the breaks (and breakouts.)
Ryan interviewed Cameron Diaz and Pitbull, separately. Cameron
tried to get Ryan to say out loud that he is in love with his girlfriend, to no avail.
We've had 4 new top 10 entries over the past 3 weeks. I wonder how
many listeners think their "votes" actually count.
