I would love it if this isn't the only year to see an increase. If we can get even a 1% increase for next year, I'd be happy.
BUT, for now, I'm happy where we are. :)

The title is kinda misleading. Seems like Nicki's name was just thrown in there tbh.

Disagree if you'd like, but we're currently a 155 million from 153.9 million physical copies sold. That's less than 2 million copies. A gap that Adele's sales alone could almost fill. It seems Nicki's name was just thrown in the title cause she's one of the top 3 female sellers, despite the gap between her and #s 1&2 being pretty wide.

But she did contribute a little bit at least, can't deny that. I wonder why Katy&Rih isn't up here.

"______ Boost US sales" ...well don't all artist that release music in that year boost sales?

well yes,but the article is pointing out who made the biggest contributions. I get that, I just find the title odd and misleading. And Mumford & Sons ,Jason Aldean, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber & Chris Brown have all contributed more sales this year than Nicki. So again, I get why they included bot Gaga and Adele if they wanted it to be a female thing, but Nicki's name is just random and out of place. Really, Nicki's YTD is only 9k above Katy's & 11k above Rihanna's.

I respect your opinion(even tho it hurts ;)) Well I got this off of The Grape Juice,so that's were the title came from, that could have been their personal title. EDIT: There is a BB article in the YTD thread, where the 3 ladies are in the Top 10 of sales. I can now see why the title can be misleading.

I thought catalog sales were the primary driver of increased album sales rather than new releases

I thought catalog sales were the primary driver of increased album sales rather than new releases I think sales are generally higher though. Look at the #20 album on this week's chart and #50 etc compared to this time last year, there's an increase this year. Not a massive one, but a considerable one.

Will Beyonce’s ‘4′ that trumps the records currently held by her chart rivals when the Year-End figures are released in a few months time?
