This is a thread where you can recommend recent albums to posters (or older, I personally would rather albums by new and/or upcoming artists) based on their taste that you have observed over the time you've known them on this forum.
You can start with me, since I'm looking to purchase Fair to Midlands' albums in the near future and I want to possibly pick up more.

Since you took my vote, you awesome bastard, I will recommend Twin Atlantic's Free to you all. They are super awesome and "Yes I Was Drunk" is one of my favorite songs of this year.

Kind of reminds me of a more punk-driven Kings of Leon. Or at least "Yes, I Was Drunk" does. I like it a lot, actually. His voice is interesting and different, which I enjoy. I will check out more of their material and possibly buy the album.

Sublime with Rome's new album is a great one. Even if you don't want to buy the whole album, at least download "Only," the second track. It's such a summer song.

www.facebook.com/textures?sk=app_178091127385Brand new song from the Dutch Progressive-Metal band Textures called "Singularity" posted. They have a new singer on this album, which will take some getting used to because their former singer was one of my all-time favorites, but the new vocalist is definitely still quite good. Time will tell if I like him nearly as much though.

It's not necessarily "new" anymore, but Bon Iver's new album is really good.

Please follow the link in my signature and vote in the poll! I don't know where else to let you guys know since barely any of you venture in the Lounge section.

I'm really impressed with Black Tide's new album "Post Mortem." I liked their previous album, but this sounds so much more produced and it seems that they really experimented with a variety of sounds for this new one. There's much better choices IMO than "That Fire" on there for singles. Not sure why exactly they chose it in the first place.

Still on the Textures bent myself, here's the music video for "Reaching Home". I feel like this is the closest thing they've ever released to a song that could do well at active rock radio, but it might be a bit too beautiful.

Do you recommend giving their prior albums a shot since they had a diff vocalist? Is it still similar?

I remember posting a song of theirs called "Awake" in the last year which you liked off their last album. I'd recommend the newest album Dualism (which has "Reaching Home" on it) and the one before it Silhouettes (which has "Awake" and "Messengers" on it). Depending on how much you love those and what songs you like, I may or may not recommend the album before Silhouettes called Drawing Circles, but I can't imagine a scenario in which you like Drawing Circles more than the two most recent albums.

Okay. Dualism is what I have, and that's why I asked about the vocalist. I'll try Silhouettes.

It's like Rise Against decided to go bluegrass-punk. That's the best thing I could compare it to from that song alone. The way they structure their songs with tempo changes and clean bridges and the guitar arrangements along with the gritty vocals...all of those elements scream Rise Against. I don't know if their lyrics are as socially conscious, but they do feel similarly "erudite-blue collar." I thought it was pretty cool. Where are these guys from?
And Pen, any thoughts on either of the Textures albums?

None. I haven't really given them a listen. I've had too much on my plate entertainmentwise. Woe is me!
