Although is 'Sound of Silence' really hard rock? (the Disturbed version) A hard rock ballad, sure. "Zombie" is harder, but not by a significant amount. Even at that, both songs are generally more tame than half the top ten on active right now. |

I said hard rock, not metal. The same thing would apply. Hard rock implies electric guitar. I've never heard of an instrument being a necessary qualifier of a genre, but okay. Regardless, the song is heavier and more rock oriented than anything else that performed as well as it did in recent years, so my point still stands: the two rock songs that don't naturally appeal to mainstream and alternative listeners are both covers. |

Bad Wolves lost the top spot to Zedd for a few hours but regained it back in stride. Looks like this song is staying.

No songs are expected to cross the 60k mark for the tracking period that just ended... My music taste usually aligns better with iTunes rather than Spotify but I think it's time to accept that #1 on iTunes just doesn't mean much anymore.
Also, Meghan already down to #22. Ouch.

Bad Wolves have now held the top spot for over 24 straight hours, and for the past 10 the gap between them and Zedd has continued to widen. This song just might stay stable all week. If only streaming will grow higher.

It’s longeviry is insane considering it wasn’t even that big of a song. It is #44 on iTunes here in Ireland (!!!) and everytime I check it it is the top 200. It seems to return to the official singles chart quite often. I will have to double check but I am pretty sure it is close to or over 100 weeks there |
