What usually happens to songs that were discounted at the time of release? Does it harm the longevity or what?

What usually happens to songs that were discounted at the time of release? Does it harm the longevity or what? I don't think there are many examples. It could hurt a lot once they remove the discount, but they're gunning for a #1 debut on the Hot 100 so they might not care about that right now. |

"NTLTC" down to #6 and still discounted. It's so weird to me how fast songs fall once they fall from #1, even if they had been #1 awhile. "Cry Pretty" hung onto #1 for days, but once it fell it was gone from the top 10 quick.
