Instant grat madness:
1 Madonna - Joan of Arc 1.0000 2 Madonna - Iconic (feat. Chance The Rapper & Mike Tyson) 0.9989 3 Madonna - Hold Tight 0.9973 4 AWOLNATION - I'm On Fire (From The "Fifty Shades of Gre... 0.9352
Even if it's only because they are instant grat tracks, Madonna has the top three on lock right now. The top non-insant grat track:

Snubbed at the Grammys and Rihanna #1 on iTunes, not a good day for the Hive.

I can't believe people are downloading that awful Rihanna song, but to each his own.
It will be interesting to see what tops the Hot 100 for this week with the Grammy influence. Are streams being affected the way downloads are? It's also hard to tell with some songs having multiple 'versions' charting.

^Yes. Streaming is affected as well. "Drunk in Love" jumped to #2 last year with a large portion of points from streaming.

Are there any official videos uploaded from the Grammy's on YouTube? I was really hoping the Hozier/Annie Lennox performance would be released a la Imagine Dragons/Kendrick Lamar last year.

She came in 4th for AOTY. Snubbed. Split voting is a thing. Besides the inaccurate definition of the word 'snubbed,' do we actually know that she came in fourth for AOTY? I didn't think exact voting order was ever revealed for any category. People who voted for Sam or Ed in pop might have flipped and voted for Bey in AOTY, or vice-versa. If the votes were tight then a rank is kind of pointless.

I was wondering about Madonna's situation. She's already released some 8 tracks from the album to iTunes, right? Considering half the album is already out, a lot of people must have already bought it ("pre-ordered") to get these songs. So that would probably make for a big first week, I assume.
Let's say for some reason (leaking, etc) she decides to release all the other songs to iTunes as well this week, even though the album's official release date is March 6 - the day of the physical release. Would Billboard consider it as a release and debut the album on the charts or hold the numbers until March and consider all of this as pre-orders?
I don't know whether I'm making myself clear, and I just wondered whether this marketing strategy could open a precedent for selling an album (or half of it, or most of it) through iTunes for several weeks before release date to generate a bigger first-week figure.

Are there any official videos uploaded from the Grammy's on YouTube? I have seen both Imagine Dragons and Sia's performances uploaded. Have not looked at the others though.

But other than that, with Uptown Funk's very large radio audience right now, it is extremely unlikely that anything other than Thinking Out Loud or Uptown Funk will top the charts because songs like FourFiveSeconds are quite far behind in airplay and streaming while Uptown Funk is still selling a lot. It would take the likes of Thinking Out Loud having gotten a sales (and perhaps streaming) boost from the Grammys while already competing with UF in streaming and airplay. Don't think any song other than these two has a chance at topping the Hot 100 post-Grammy week.

But when people buy/pre-order Madonna's new album to get the 8 songs that are already available, that counts as album pre-order, not singles sales, isn't it? (I know some people are just buying the singles individually, but I'm led to believe they're the minority)

Wow at Katy's new single flopping so painfully hard... It's not a new single. No radio push or music video. Literally just a one time performance. This situation is not going to happen. It would not be counted as an album. Only digital singles sales... But when people buy/pre-order Madonna's new album to get the 8 songs that are already available, that counts as album pre-order, not singles sales, isn't it? (I know some people are just buying the singles individually, but I'm led to believe they're the minority) All pre-order single sales no longer count towards the digital sales chart and Hot 100. (Used to, they would count here and then be subtracted when the album was released.) All pre-order sales do, however, count towards the album's first week sales. In your hypothetical situation, with all of the tracks now being available, this would mean you could no longer "pre-order" the album, as the album is already out. Then the album would start charting on the Billboard 200 and the pre-order instant grats would no longer be affecting the iTunes chart either as people would now be downloading the "full album" (or what's left of it, though it would be viewed as a return of all the previous tracks), so the tracks from that point on would be charting solely on their own merit. However, major loophole here, you could release all but one track as an instant grat track, therefore still leaving a "pre-order" button. That would probably be the closest one could get to recreating the hypothetical situation you presented.

That would probably be the closest one could get to recreating the hypothetical situation you presented. Wouldn't work if iTunes still operates as it used to. If you bought too many individual tracks in the past, "complete my album" would disappear; instead of being album price - previously purchased singles, price to purchase album would revert to being full album price. A safeguard to keep people from just buying some individual tracks and then completing for the aggregate price to be lower than simply buying the album, I'd guess.

How come Drake's album still isn't appearing on the iTunes charts? It should have been updated by now...
