Malibu has been doing well since its release. It has been consistently in the top 20 for a month. The discount only brought it up to #3 after Miley posted about it on her social media accounts.
Also, it should come a shock to absolutely zero people that understand the most basic concept of economics that discounts offer temporary spikes in sales. You may think it's bad that it's fallen to #8, when in reality, #8 is fantastic for how long it's been discounted and has already sold. You can stay upset that Miley is doing well.
Your tired trolling needs to stay in the Hot 100 threads so I don't have to read about it.

LMAO most discounted songs that come close to the peaks malibu had stay high in sales for a much longer time. Look how well Believer is doing, and it originally flopped... u wouldn't have had to be so defensive in your post if you were actually correct in your analysis. |

Believer didn't sell well at first, with a discount it sold better
Malibu did sell well at first, never really fell and is selling well again with the discount
People won't buy a song twice just because it has a discount

That's cause it's still a country song why does that matter so much? Is it just that streaming/radio is nonexistent for country songs? They have solid radio support with good sales, but with streaming being so dominant and that being their shortcoming it is a major disadvantage. |

The song is doing extremely well for a country song on all formats. Yes it already died on country radio, but still doing well on pop. It just reached top 20 on streaming, I cannot think of any country song even making top 50 ever? And that's without an official video, and the sales are just from the single. The album has yet to be released
I think eventually country will catch up a little bit with streaming. Well it's pretty rare now to see top 20 country songs, we just had two simultaneously, something unseen since 2014

I remember in 2014 we had a number 11 and number 12 country debut  (well, the latter may not have been a debut but that is as high as it got). Die A Happy Man is the only other country song I remember doing decently on streaming |
