Also, can you just edit it back to being a list, because there is really no need for thirty YouTube videos on one page.

Yea I don't think all those videos are needed. Didn't they ban gifs because the slowed down the board? Don't see how this is different. ...But where is "Firework" though? Still you for this... Until today I didn't realise that fat girls have feelings too and sometimes men kiss other men. Fortunately, two bland pop rock Pulse faves have come along to change my mind with not at all patronizing vids. Which changed your world more?

D'Angelo? Really? I mean, it's hot but to be in a list of 30 ALL-TIME, there's got to be more on the video than him sweating shirtless.

I think it had quite a cultural impact, especially in terms of the mainstream conception of " ideal male blackness." Certainly paved the guy for the Old Spice Guy. I'm really happy to see All is Full of Love and Hurt on the list

Where is "Stan" from Eminem? that is one of the biggest hip hop videos/videos period of all-time. A haunting story.

One can be a GaGa lover or hater, but it's undoubted that Bad Romance was a very high point in the concept of video making.
I remember the first time I watched, it gave me chills, and to this day it still does.
PS: I think the same feeling must have been felt by those who saw for the first time videos like Nothing Compares 2 U, etc.
PS2: I do believe that GaGa will never be able to top herself, video making-wise. (I think that Beyonce too will never be able to top herself on Single Ladies, in the impact the video made on culture). And this statement is far from shady, it's just true.

"Express Yourself" has been one of Madge's most revered videos, so no surprise to see it here. It's been cited before: MTV had it at No. 10 on its 100 Greatest Videos list (1999) and Slant had it at No. 1 on its 100 Greatest Videos list in 2003. "Like a Prayer" probably had more citations (i.e. #20 on Rolling Stone's 1993 top 100 list, No. 43 on Slant's top 100, No. 2 on VH1 USA's top 100 and No. 36 on VH1 UK's top 100) so it's nice to see EY getting some more love.

"Toxic"? I don't think the video has appeared on many best-of lists- the track itself has, but not the video.

TIME Magazine: The 30 All-TIME Best Music Videos
Beyoncé, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" (2008):
There are two ways to shoot a dance-heavy video. You can build an elaborate set, design multiple costumes and hire a cavalcade of dancers to serve as back-up bodies. Or you can just slap a leotard and high heels on Beyoncé Knowles and call it a day. That's exactly what director Jake Nava did in the video for Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)." Beyoncé and her two choreographers, Frank Gatson and JaQuel Knight, came up with the dance routine by combining elements of an old Bob Fosse dance with something called J-Setting (a call-and-response type cheerleading dance that originated at Jackson State University in Mississippi). The three-minute video was shot in one take, with the lighting and angles changed live as Beyoncé and two other dancers swished, bounced and popped in front of a blank backdrop. It has been watched more than 128 million times on YouTube and has inspired dozens of fan videos. Sometimes, the best creations are also the simplest.
King B makes another list with her iconic video! <3

There's a brilliant video that precedes the birth of MTV and is superior to almost all this crop.....................and that is Bob Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues".
*
Beyond that, there's some brilliant videos in the MTV era that I'd rate higher than much of this list. They include "Give It Away" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Tonight, Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins, "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand and "Ashes to Ashes" by David Bowie.
I can certainly vouch for some of this list, though. "Thriller" is one of the most selectively borrowed videos of all time as far as its choreography is concerned, so it stands to reason it obviously belongs here. "Once In A Lifetime" is sheer genius. "Cry" and "Nothing Compares 2 U" epitomizes, much like Sugarland's "Stay", how simplicity can sometimes speak extraordinary volumes. And great videos are certainly not limited to those four.
I'd say some of the more recent releases shouldn't be there, though. I can admire "Runaway" for its ambitious quality and stab at multi-layered symbolism, but honestly it just seemed too bewildering to rate among the best. I suppose 120+ million viewers can't be wrong when it comes to "Single Ladies (Put A Ring on It)"............but then again it's really not that original a video in that it selectively borrowed the choreography from "Mexican Breakfast" (and, by viewership standards, "On The Floor" by Jennifer Lopez might as well be there since it has over twice as many total views to date.) And why is "Going On" there again?
It's a mixed bag to me. But then again, that's to be expected with any countdown, so I'm not going to complain any further.
Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS
