Most of Spears' recyrrent airplay comes from pop- HIAM is still relatively "new," so that's why it's as high as it is. She hardly gets any recurrent play at Hot AC- and practically none at AC, the format that gives tracks the bulk of recurrent airplay.
RE female rap- Nicki Minaj is 12 years Missy Elliott's junior, so her chances of scoring radio hits is easier- plus, she's a new act. But with the right track, Missy could get decent urban support and some rhythmic- pop perhaps if there's a collaborator on board.

It should be interesting to see over the next 5-7 years if AC programmers start integrating her titles into the format, as her original base of female fans joins the demo, and smart stations add her to the mix for the "oh wow" factor. A song like "Everytime" could be a strong first title to play.

At this rate, Lighters will have about 92m AI by next weeks chart. Meaning it would only need to outsell Katy by 50-60k

how much airplay do old britney songs still get?? I'm not sure about overall airplay, sorry. However, I can give you some CHR/Pop spins if you like? These are from the 8/7 published chart. :) 541: Hold It Against Me 254: Womanizer 154: Toxic 95: 3 92: Circus 26: Gimme More 26: Piece of Me 21: I'm a Slave 4 U 12: ...Baby One More Time 7: Oops! ...I Did It Again 4: Break the Ice 2: Stronger 2: (You Drive Me) Crazy 2: If U Seek Amy 1: My Prerogative It's odd seeing both "Gimme More" and the viscerally love-hate "I'm A Slave 4 U" achieving more spins (at least this chart edition) than her two early career signature songs and "Stronger". "If U Seek Amy" certainly didn't hold up well longevity-wise. Namaste, lisping HIBISCUS

When does airplay end tracking end of the week? Lighters could end up being a serious threat for katy if it keeps gaining like this and with the video being released tomorrow.

Womanizer's total plays are good, but that's relatively new when compared to Toxic. I don't think HIAM will hold up that well.

End of Tuesday like peigan68 pointed out. That means that the Wednesday airplay update will be the one that counts towards the Hot 100 for the week (obviously using BDS not Mediabase though).

"Best Thing I Never Had" keeps chugging along. It may fall short of the top 10, but after "Run the World," this has turned out to be a decent-enough hit. Question is: Will the third single perform acceptably?
'I Wanna Go" keep on with the big gains- just 13m-14m or so to match TTWE's Mediabase peak. Wonder if it will continue gaining as is, or will , out of the blue, just hit its peak.

^Move on? BTINH currently is at 11 on Mediabase's rhythmic chart, 15 on pop, 7 on Urban and 34 on Urban AC. Even if no other tracks on the album are as radio-friendly as BTINH (which even isn't as radio-friendly as, say, "Irreplaceable" was), I still would think her team will put out another single. This week's chart will be the album's sixth week in the top 10 (if it holds); it's not like they're going to abandon singles once BTINH starts dropping down the charts.

It looks.like.it.might just ride out until late September...go figure. Beyonce should move on to an tempo.song. this song has served.its.purpose. will probably peak last week.of Aug or.first week of Sept.

BAD MEETS EVIL - Lighters f/Bruno Mars: 73.990 (+ 2.997) £
With Katy still climbing, I don't think Lighters will end up outselling it at all, let alone by 60k.
