It's a shame this was released so late here in the US. What with the new album coming out this fall, right?

Wow I've never seen a band's promotion team work so far in advace. Selling tickets thru Fall 2013 all over the world, not scheduling a move from the tour that hasn't started from an album that hasn't been recorded! Talk about a major gamble! But if anyone can pull it off it seems to be these guys.

Their success thus far proves that time of year is not a factor in their sales success, so the sophomore release can come out whenever it's convenient for making the first era work.

It just seems like having their worldwide schedule all the same would be a lot easier/make more sense. But who knows.

I don't think it's at all unreasonable to assume they'll release the second album simultaneously in the US and UK. "One Thing" goes for adds very soon, and if it's the summer single, they could easily fit the lead single from the second album in in time for a fall album release.

I'd hate for Up All Night to only have two singles... Oh well, it's for the greater good, I guess.

Everything that worked for them releasing Up All Night with such a delay in the US would work against them if they did the same thing again with a second album. All the hype for new music would be completely wasted if their fans couldn't actually buy it until six months later.

Didn't the Spice Girls use a similar release strategy? If I remember correctly, they released their debut album in Europe during Fall 1996 and then in North America March 1997. They were able to release 3 US Singles (Wannabe, Say You'll Be There, 2 Become 1) during the year before they released their 2nd album in November 1997 worldwide.

They did, and I've said before that I think the release strategy for 1D in the US is based on the Spice Girls'. But I believe "Wannabe" was released in the January so they had enough time to fit three singles from Spice in, and even then it was tight.

So much has changed in the past 15 years too that it would be ridiculous to wait months and months to release their sophomore album in the US while it's available overseas (thereby also being available for US fans to illegally download or listen to on YouTube). We didn't have that kind of easy access to overseas releases when the Spice Girls were at their peak.

We didn't have that kind of easy access to overseas releases when the Spice Girls were at their peak. This is pretty much what I've been saying. Their fanbase is way too rabid to wait for a copy at this point. They may have waited with their first album, but they've exploded since then. Most people had not heard of them until their album became available for pre-order here. Since then they've sold out two U.S. tours. It wouldn't be reasonable to wait, because their fanbase won't.

They should release "More Than This" as the 3rd single in August. Then release the 1st single and new album in November/December.

Stole My Heart has the biggest hit potential for single #3.

I could go for Tell Me A Lie or Stole My Heart as a third single. Not here for More Than This.

Really interesting promotion tactic: The group's management is making a presence on the almost defunct social network Formspring, and sending out messages advertising their merchandise. It's actually pretty cute.

^ I'm dead. Congrats on your morning nail, boys? I almost bought the special edition of US Magazine featuring the boys at Wal-Mart but I decided to hold off until I had $10 to spare Looks to be a pretty good little item though. (Contains 6 posters! ) HDD is projecting 40-45k sales of the album this week, bringing their total to 740,000 as of the chart's release. Damn.

I think I'm learning to be a 1D fan right now. They have a strong album and almost all the songs could be released as singles. They're good live, on studio, they really deserve them success.

Ugh, no. 'Tell me a lie' is the way to go Why? 'Cause Kelly Clarkson wrote it, so it deserves to be a single
