As part of the Beatles and on their own, John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison have also all had #1 hits in the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

Well they're still the first male pop group in awhile to score a #1 hit. That's saying something, especially on today's chart.

I just wanted to be the first to use the words "Maroon 5" in a sentence since it was announced what the #1 was. :o

The power of reality TV. Not knocking the achievement, by the way, just stating a fact. Christina has #1's in 3 decades Billboard says so, it's on paper. OH YEAH!!!

Do the other band members of Maroon 5 sing on MLJ? Don't they usually do backup vocals? I'm not sure I hear them on this track. I wonder if Ms. Aguilera will send Mr. Levine some flowers to thank him for letting her appear on Maroon 5's track? Or maybe give him one of these-

^ Right! Or maybe they'll send Christina flowers to thank her for borrowing some of her star power.

Star power? if she were at, say, Britney Spears' level of star power, I would agree. But we know that's not the case. :)
Even better idea, Luckie. After all, Mick (Rolling Stones) is the only legendary/revered act associated with the track.

Or maybe Ke$ha will invite them to her Hawaiian Luau drunken sex orgy to celebrate.
Let's not focus on what's going to happen and instead be happy for both Maroon 5 and Christina that they got another #1 for their collections.

So, does "Someone Like You" have a shot at soaring 19-1 next week? No one's reported the statistical iTunes pop-bars info as of late.

Pumped Up Kicks has sitting around 70% & MLJ has been hovering around 60% for the last day, songs that shoot fast to number 1 tend to start falling after about 3-4 days, so we'll see if Adele can hold on over the week-end

If it replicates its UK performance it will carry on outselling the competition for a while yet. There you go: kworb.net/pop/

^ Right! Or maybe they'll send Christina flowers to thank her for borrowing some of her star power. But it didn't get to #1 because of that did it? Surely 90% of Xtina fans purchased this the first week it was out...and got it to #8. It got to #1 because it is a radio-friendly track that has built up. Xtina's impact, outside of the first week, is minimal as far as her "star power" goes. S&M doubling its sales in one week and grabbing to #1 with the remix is an example of star power :)

No disrespect but the only entity that both Xtina and Maroon 5 should be sending flowers to is The Voice.

Cher in the 60s 70s and 90s. Cher only got #1's as Cher in the 70s and 90s. She got her #1 in the 60's as Sonny & Cher. Cher and Sonny & Cher are considered two different acts, which is why she isn't counted as an act whose had a #1 in three decades. It's the same thing w/ Diana Ross. She's had several #1's in the 60's as a member of The Supremes but they are considered a different act to Diana Ross, which is why she is not included as well.

"The Voice" was peaking at #8 in July. This chart run is due to radio exposure

That's interesting. I always thought if the name was specifically mentioned, it counted. As the 60s ended, wasn't the name changed to Diana Ross and the Supremes?

Glad Moves Like Jagger is #1 this week. I'm really glad it was not a "one week wonder" type of song that debuts inside the top 10 and drops way too fast
I hope Adele or Foster The People will take the #1 spot next week

I'd say so. 1 Adele - Someone Like You 1.000000 2 Foster the People - Pumped Up Kicks 0.690319 3 Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger 0.611897 4 Lady Gaga - Yoü and I 0.602003 Assuming MLJ sells another 200-210k, then this could mean Adele will sell nearly 300k or more! That could be enough to get her to #1.

I agree with Forg-It is nice to see a song slowly build and catch onto the #1. It is well-deserved in my eyes and not just "luck" or "a tv show." It is also sort of nice to see two veteran artists who aren't really considered hip and cool enough (or using Dr. Luke enough) get another #1. Fun to see though I hope Adele takes over next :)
