BFB or even UND next. She needs a club banger before she tries something riskier again. Then IO and new album in November 2012 with the single in September.

We need a club banger after Criminal peaks. I really would love for it to be Big Fat Bass but it's digital performance on iTunes after so many television spots worries me.

I think "Drop Dead (Beautiful)" "Up N Down" and "Big Fat Bass" would all be great choices for the 5th single. I've said before I wish her label was smarter and released a Platinum edition of the album with more tracks and a DVD which would be a great way to cash in on those holiday sales. She would also be able to debut a new single, which would most likely add to her #1 debuts. Does anyone know if she's been recording any new songs on tour, like she did during the Circus tour?

NO to Big Fat Bass. It was outsold by DDB, I Wanna Go, and Inside Out despite it's three performances. If RCA was to have choices for future single(s) they should be Up N Down, Drop Dead Beautiful, and even Trouble For Me. I personally would love to see How I Roll since it's a personal favorite (and one of Brit's as well) and it'd continue the Bloodshy single release pattern.

You know what they say, third time's a charm.

I have a feeling that she won't be dropping an album until late 2013. She's established that she wants to concentrate on acting in 2012, which probably won't leave much time for music, and I doubt her team will make the mistake of releasing another album outside of the fourth quarter.

So then wouldn't that be an indication of the fact that Inside Out should have been released instead of Criminal? I personally think BFB would be a smash. It's been picked up by clubs across the country. It's got potential. DDB sounds dated now. I'd be happy with UND being a single but I'd still choose BFB over it.

Why was releasing outside the fourth quarter a mistake? Blackout was a fourth-quarter release, and look what happened. This album had three bonafide airplay hits, so the sales are disappointing taking that into consideration. It's possible for an album released out of the fourth quarter to enjoy decent legs- this album as a whole may not have clicked with people outside the core fan base.
"Criminal: is not in the mold of the previous three singles, but it's not like it's off-putting as a radio release. It has an accessible sound to it. Not every release has to sound like all the uptempo fodder on radio at the moment.
As for "Radar"- it was bad enough that it appeared on Circus, but then to appear on the single-disc of The Singles Collection when a bonafide hit like "Sometimes" or the higher-peaking (and superior) "Break the Ice" gets the shaft? That was a big WTF moment.

Why was releasing outside the fourth quarter a mistake? It's a known fact that Britney's sales are front-loaded, so if she had released during the Q4 holiday rush instead of March, the album likely would have sold much better than it has. I'm sure it would be platinum by now, or close to it. Blackout was a fourth-quarter release, and look what happened. The circumstances surrounding Blackout were completely different and have no relevance here.

snookimonster- Blackout did sell almost 1 million- but, that was roughly 1/3 of what In the Zone sold.
Mack- I was just saying that even with a fourth-quarter release, Blackout didn't benefit much from that. Yes, circumstances were different for various reasons, especially because of the "backlash" and none of the tracks cracking top 40 on Hot 100 Airplay.
Her sales may be front-loaded, but it's not like most of her albums dropped down the charts at rapid speed. Femme Fatale just hasn't exhibited legs like some of the other albums, despite the singles success.

A holiday release would have definitely helped "Femme Fatale" out some. I don't see how one could argue that, especially using "Blackout" lol.

They could just re-release "Radar" again. You know what they say, third time's a charm. Radar was only released as a single once. The fact that it appeared on two CDs has nothing to do with it's release as a single. But it was released twice. They canceled it soon after the first time around. But it was intended to be a single. Remixes were even commissioned for a club promotion but that was called off. Then they released it again as the 4th single from Circus. I know many here disagree with the reasons for why it was on two consecutive albums and chosen as a single, but the reason I keep hearing and reading is that the producers had made it contractually obligated to be a single (much like what had happened with a number of her singles on other albums...anything you have heard to the contrary for some of them is just damage control and an attempt to brush it under the rug).

I'm not disagreeing that a November/December release could have boosted the sales total some, but would it have mattered in terms of album legs/how it's moved on the chart? Probably not.

BFB, Inside Out, He About To Lose Me would be the best choices.

I only said that a Q4 release would have boosted the album's sales initially, not that it would have given the album better legs.

Would have also helped if the album wasn't all over the internet/twitter/blogs/etc 3 weeks before the release.

I'd say Inside Out or How I Roll to end the era. I love DDB personally, but public opinion doesn't seem to be so great. BFB...I like, but I really can't see it doing well on pop.
