^Well, yeah, that's often what gives a track a "beat." :) Or, synthesized versions of such.
What "remixed" play is "Someone Like You" receiving, chartfreak? If it's a dance version, that handful of dance stations won't make that much of a difference. Its bullets on Mediabase's 7-day rolling charts currently stand at +1,252 at Pop, +605 at Hot AC, +75 at AC and +69 at Triple A. It doesn't appear on Mediabase's Rock chart, though I think it is on Billboard's Rock Songs chart.

All I know is that 106.7 in Detroit plays a version with a dance beat, I'm assuming it's official, but that station I believe reports to Pop. But I haven't followed what stations fall under what category.

Yes, a dance remix is being played on some Pop stations. Kind of like how Country songs sometimes have Pop mixes.
'SLY' is being played at the same formats as 'RITD' with the exception of Rhythmic for now (unless those dance mixes help it out there too like they did with RITD)

I'm sure some rhythmic stations played the regular version of RITD, though? No rhythmic stations in my immediate area, so I cannot speak on that front.

Is there a general Hot 100 thread? I wanted to ask if Madonna's 43 Top 20 Hits on the Hot 100 is als a record, male or female?

I count 47 top 20 hits for Elvis Presley (this does not include his pre-Hot 100 hits from 1956-1958); Madonna's count of 43 would be the second-most (I count 42 for The Beatles). Elton John isn't far behind, at 40.

I can actually see future 4m+ updates for SLY happening. Radio seems to have learned its lesson from their tardiness in getting RITD on board, don't they?
PS as far as I know there wasn't an official remix of RITD nor is their one of SLY. You can bet your bottom dollar if there were they would be on iTunes but they aren't. Another amazing fact about Adele singles - no official remixes available on iTunes to 'inflate' sales.

*goes back to the chart history books* I suppose "Hey There Delilah" qualifies as a track with no "beat"? That hit No. 1 in July 2007. Perhaps the last piano-driven, "beatless" No. 1 was "Candle in the Wind 1997"? The B-side had a "beat," though. "Hey There Delilah" is most certainly the last #1 song not to have a beat, there are no drums on the track at all.

"Remixes" don't sell in mass quantities, even in the long run- same for guest-act "remixes." One exception being the Kanye West version of "E.T." But, yeah, "Rolling in the Deep's" sales come from a single version, yes?

Madonna's had: #1 - Music, Take A Bow, This Used to be My Playground, Justify My Love, Vogue, Like A Prayer, Who's That Girl, Open Your Heart, Papa Don't Preach, Live To Tell, Crazy For You, Like A Virgin #2 - Frozen, I'll Remember, Cherish, Express Yourself, Causing a Commotion, Material Girl #3 - 4 Minutes, Secret, Erotica, True Blue #4 - Don't Tell Me, La Isla Bonita, Lucky Star Kinda cool that for Madonna's top 4 hits, if you multiply the peak position by the number of songs that have peaked there, you always end up with 12. 12 number 1's 6 number 2's 4 number 3's 3 number 4's

^ If you're right with the sales estimations (I have no clue on them), I think MLJ will be the #2. 89-90M airplay sounds more like it, and it probably will have somewhat of a streaming advantage.
Also, for 'Yoü and I,' I'd think about 44M would be likely, and 47-48 seems more likely for 'You Make Me Feel,' therefore 'Yoü and I' will probably be #5 or #6, 'Lighters' would be #8, and 'You Make Me Feel' would be #9. :)

I made some errors, it's fixed now. Thanks ;)
(* - BDS estimates)
1. Someone Like You - 268K + 45M = 313
2. Moves Like Jagger - 202K + 91M* = 293
3. Pumped Up Kicks - 217K + 74 = 291
4. Party Rock Anthem - 137K + 118M = 255
5/6. Super Bass - 101K + 118M = 219 5/6. You And I - 175K + 44M* = 219
7. How To Love - 114K + 100M = 214
8/9/10. Cheers - 150M + 57M* = 207 8/9/10 Lighters - 99K + 107M = 206 8/9/10 You Make Me Feel... - 157K + 48M = 205
Last Friday Night - 62K? + 117M* = 179 (OUT OF TOP 10) Stereo Hearts - 136K? + 52M* = 188 (OUT OF TOP 10)

Looks like LFN will have zero longevity, dropping faster then S&M at this rate

Just because 'Last Friday Night' was #1 less than two charts ago and is looking to be out of the top ten this coming chart does not mean it's having zero longevity. Remember that it took forever to actually make its peak of #1, as evident in its trajectory excerpt of 4-4-4-4-3-2-2-2-1-1. If you re-shuffle those numbers around so that it reached #1 earlier, such as 4-4-3-2-1-1-2-2-4-4, then follow that up with a #5, and say, a #11, that's a really good run. And remember that it's still doing really well in airplay - it's had 5 weeks #1 on CHR, high chance of getting a 6th, and it's been #1 on overall airplay for over a month. It's done very well, especially for a 5th single. I don't see how this is 'zero longevity.'

of course it's had longevity. It might even get a 7th week at #1 on overall airplay on mediabase if PRA keeps losing AI at the same consistant rate as LFN.

Three songs this year, which ¨just barely¨ reached #1: B&Y, S&M and LFN; bled chart points just after reaching #1.
That doesn't mean they weren't certified hits.

Well, Last Friday Night did not last as long as "E.T." or "Firework", but it still did pretty well considering it was a fifth single. 11 weeks in the top 5 already.

And, I'm really not feeling the Cobra Starship song... it feels like a re-thread of I'm Not Alone & Yeah3x.

I always thought it was Capitol just getting lucky and nothing they did in particular anyway. KP's weeks in the Top 10 streak is pretty much history even as early as next week unless we are all just seeing it wrong and have over estimated but given the accuracy of the projections in the recent past....

We all knew Katy's top 10 record had to end sometime. I didn't think LFN would fall out of the top 10 quite this quickly, but oh well. She really smashed that record. I believe she's had 68 consecutive weeks in the top 10 (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), which is 20 weeks more than the previous record holder. Meaning Katy will probably keep this record for quite some time.

I'm surprised Capitol didn't rush out a 6th single to make sure they kept up the weeks in top ten streak. I suppose they either don't care about that record, thought it was near-impossible to get the 6th single there in time anyway, or they were out of promo money. I don't know. It feels like they've personally given up on this era though, considering the way they handled 'Last Friday Night,' and the way it looks like they're releasing 'Hummingbird Heartbeat' next.
