Goes to all radio the week of September 25 from Billboard.biz. While I could never make it all the way through the debut single, this premierred over the weekend and I found it much more servicable to radio.

I would imagine the first post of the topic and the +77 increase in spins during said week have already answered your question.

Obvious choice. I hope it increases interest in this era. The whole thing seems so unhyped.

100k is good, but I can't help but wonder if there was more promo how much higher it could have scanned. They were a huge band at one time. For hardcore fans (like me) this album has been a pipedream for so long, and now here it is. But it seems like a huge anticlimax after waiting so long. The band doesn't seem 100% in it and the label doesn't seem to want to promote it as if they were a major artist. There seems to be little effort to make new fans. I fear that the 100k+ are all hardcore fans like me and then this album will fall away too quickly.

Numbers are in. They sold about 155k their first week. Pretty freakin solid if you ask me.
Edit: Also, they came in at #2 I believe. Right behind J. Cole. 210k for him I think.

I'd say if a band still has that many hardcore fans after eight years, then they're doing pretty well for themselves. Honestly, I'm sure every fan of a band thinks a label could do better in promoting them. Isn't that the easiest target to always blame when a band doesn't succeed like we think they should? Of course! If the label had only thrown more money at things! It's not that simple, I'm sure.

This was my favorite from Neighborhoods. I'm sure that it'll at least make the top five.

I question the band more than the label in this case. I mean- after eight years of no blink 182 why release an Angels and Airwaves single right now of all times?

I question the band more than the label in this case. I mean- after eight years of no blink 182 why release an Angels and Airwaves single right now of all times? Because Tom has been working on Love for the better part of the last two years, album and film both, and he thought Blink was going to get their album out earlier than they did, and why should he delay his work with AVA just because they fucked up their timetable? It's not like both projects can't coexist. I think AVA will get more attention from the movie than from the album anyway, and it's a little hard for AVA to overshadow Blink. Besides, it's not like Mark and Travis don't have their own projects that they do as well.

www.mediafire.com/?j58dh0g7ukjko51If anyone cares I covered the 2nd track off the album - Natives...changed it a bit. Not perfect, some timing and stuff is off cuz It was a rough quick demo. But lemme know what you think. Anyway, funny story. I stupidly bought this album at Walmart...forgetting that they don't allow explicit lyrics. Freaking censored albums suck.

I really want "Kaleidoscope" as the third and possibly/probable final single from the album.

I think they will probably have four singles. "Up All Night" did really good, and I'm sure this will be another big hit.
Their last album had 4 singles. This album has a lot of single potential

I think "Heart's All Gone" is too unremarkable to be a single. It's a standard fast punk song, and while it's a good song, it has nothing really going for it that screams "single". For single #3 I would want "Ghost On The Dance Floor", although "Natives" or "Wishing Well" seems far more likely. If there was any chance for a Deluxe track being chosen, I'd pick "Snake Charmer" in a heartbeat.

This isn't a remake of an Eric Clapton song, I guess.

[This album has been hyped so much over the past two years] and now here it is. But it seems like a huge anticlimax after waiting so long. The band doesn't seem 100% in it and the label doesn't seem to want to promote it as if they were a major artist. I fear that the 100k+ are all hardcore fans like me and then this album will fall away too quickly. I agree very much with where you're coming from, more so than anyone else posting in this topic it seems. I put my own spin on your quote because you already said perfectly a lot of what I was thinking. "Up All Night" just wasn't quite the home run of quality that it needed to be. For all the hype of new Blink music, it should've been a multi-week #1. If this had been, say, 2007, 2008, it very well may have been. I was frustrated, but not the least bit surprised when it only topped out at #3. And you know once it goes recurrent, you'll never hear it again. Hell, even the most enduring radio single from their last album seems to be "I Miss You" and even that's not regularly forced down my throat the way "Dammit," "What's My Age Again," "All the Small Things," and to a lesser extent, "Josie," "Stay Together for the Kids," and "First Date" are. This comeback album seems destined to be a (relative) commercial flop. The Blink guys seem to be into their band (with Mark easily being the most enthusiastic of the three), but because of all the other projects they're involved in, and because they've all become superstar celebrities in their own right, they have way too many handlers in their business now and it's like a huge, detached machine. For their Alternative Press cover story (the major magazine that's clearly been more supportive of their career than any other), the writer was only granted a half-hour joint interview with Mark and Tom, which was then cut short by a publicist. Travis was apparently too busy/inaccessible to bother sitting down for the reporter at all. So if this album, which is surprisingly solid, ends up stiffing and not breaking even for the label because the band members are too busy to give their full attention to promoting it, they'll have no one to blame but themselves. "Heart's All Gone" is easily my favorite because it's faster and more direct than any of the other songs. However, I can also see it doing a lackluster job as a single because it's so straightforward. Don't really know what my thoughts about other singles are because, while I played the album in my car constantly for three weeks, I can't see the forest for the trees yet, if you will.
