On the recent AT40: The 70's rebroadcast of the October 1, 1977 AT40 episode I heard the original version of "The Greatest Love of All" done by George Benson (9 years before the big Whitney Houston version). Do you remember this?

This is a nauseating sapfest regardless of who sings it. Definitely not one of my favorite George Benson songs, and one of my least favorite Whitney singles regardless of how big it was for her.

It is a sapfest- that no doubt inspired Mimi Carey's "Hero"- but Whitney did well with it (as she usually does on her covers). Hers wasn't that different from Benson's original, though.
