LOS ANGELES, CA (October 5, 2011) – The 2011 MiddleChild Promotions M.U.S.I.C. Awards official nominations are being announced today and voting will commence this afternoon on their website. Little surprise that Lil’ Wayne is dominating the ballot with a grand total of 12 nominations between collaborations and his solo work and it is on some level ironic how closely connected he is with much of his competition.
Kelly Rowland shares three of her six nominations with Wayne for their smash hit Motivation; Lloyd managed to pull in six nominations himself, one of which is for Dedication to My Ex, narrated by none other than Wayne; Drake secured six nominations as well, two for some of the space he shared with his record label president on DJ Khaled’s I’m on One.
Elsewhere, Beyoncé and Keri Hilson both received five nominations; last year’s ultimate victor, Chris Brown, garnered four as did Tank and Jay-Z & Kanye West a.k.a. The Throne; Nicki Minaj earned three as did Marsha Ambrosius (full list of nominees below).
The live ceremony will take place Friday, December 2, 2011; time and location are forthcoming. Same as the inaugural year, winners will be determined by online voting at the polls on the MCP website.
The MiddleChild Promotions staff jointly stated, “With over 30,000 votes received last year, we can confidently say that the MCP M.U.S.I.C. Awards were a success and we’re ecstatic to do it all over again! Each and every nominee on the ballot this year deserves their spot and we’re honored to offer a platform to celebrate and reward their hard work! We also greatly appreciate the response and support we receive from all of the voters. We may not have the fame and notoriety of some but we definitely have the passion and drive to support good music and the fact that we continue to get as much love and support as we give fuels our fire more and validates our being headed in the right direction.”
2011 marks the second year of the annual event. The meaning and intent behind the awards is found in the name itself– MiddleChild Promotions’ desire and goal to support, reward, and celebrate the Mainstream and Underground, Significant and Independent makers of Classic music!
