www.billboard.com/#/news/idol-s-scotty-mccreery-makes-history-at-1005402152.storyMoving over to the Digital Songs chart, it's a little low-key, as the top two titles are stationary, and nothing debuts in the top 10. Adele's "Someone Like You" holds at No. 1 (218,000; down 2%) while Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger" (featuring Christina Aguilera) is also a non-mover at No. 2 (186,000; down 6%). LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It" jumps two spots to No. 3 (182,000; up 13%), Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" is steady at No. 4 (176,000; down 1%) and Rihanna's "We Found Love" (featuring Calvin Harris) is up one to No. 5 (144,000; down 2%). Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts" (featuring Adam Levine) also rises a rung to No. 6 (133,000; down 5%), David Guetta's "Without You" (featuring Usher) climbs 8-7 (121,000; down 3%) and LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock) is up one to No. 8 (104,000; down 16%). Rounding out the top 10 are B.o.B's "Strange Clouds" (featuring Lil Wayne), dropping 3-9 with 100,000 (down 49%) in its second week, and Lady Gaga's "You and I," rising 11-10 with 90,000 (down 5%). Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.59 million downloads, up 1% compared to last week (20.37 million) and up 5% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (19.60 million). Year to date track sales are at 972.33 million, up 10% compared to the same total at this point last year (879.96 million).

Very impressive increase for LMFAO. Surprisingly, a decrease for WFL. It's certainly picked up since, though.

There are some dance remixes of SLY floating around. I imagine that some of the plays it's getting are from the mixes. Must be.

^Yes, but any dance-mix play probably makes up a very small amount of the overall audience total.

I wonder if Adele's label will wait as long to release Set Fire to the Rain after SLY as they did between RITD and SLY. The album could be over a year old before they even start promoting single #3.

I can't see them releasing the next single until late December/early Jan 2012 to be honest, giving its airplay chance to gather speed before she inevitably performs it at the Grammys.. There would be no point in releasing any earlier IMO. The only fly in the ointment could be if it is SFTTR it may have already sold 800k by the time of its release!! Having said that, SLYs sales weren't exactly paltry when that was released. This is going to be a looonnggg era.

Rihanna's "We Found Love" (featuring Calvin Harris) is up one to No. 5 (144,000; down 2%). A 2% decrease this early in the song's life is not going to hurt.

I do wonder if there will be a "this song is so old" reaction since it's already pretty well known. Although I feel like something similar happened with Rihanna's "Don't Stop the Music" -- the song was getting scattered airplay and attention from before GGGB's release and yet they waited until single #4 to make it official, and it still did really well.

^It would've really only impacted Sunday's sales (as the sales tracking week ends Sunday evening) so I'm sure we'll see some of the effects carry over to next week's numbers

Adele's 'Someone Like You' Atop Hot 100, Passes 2 Million Downloads Adele's "Someone Like You" spends a third week atop the Billboard Hot 100, earning Airplay Gainer honors and racking up more than 2 million downloads sold to-date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The song logs a second frame at No. 1 on Digital Songs (218,000, down 2%). The sum pushes the track's to-date digital sales to 2,008,000. Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," the first single from her sophomore album "21" that topped the Hot 100 for seven weeks beginning in May, is the top-selling download of 2011 with digital sales of 5.3 million. Adele Leads American Music Awards Nominations Adele boasts one other million-selling download. Introductory single "Chasing Pavements," from her 2008 debut album "19," has sold 1.2 million, including 7,000 this week (up 10%). "Someone" holds at No. 2 on Radio Songs with 136 million audience impressions (up 10%), according to Nielsen BDS. The Hot 100's top three remains static, as former four-week No. 1 "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera again places at No. 2 and Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at No. 3. "Jagger" reaches a new peak in audience (143 million, up 3%) in its fourth week atop Radio Songs, while staying at No. 2 on Digital Songs (186,000, down 6%). "Kicks" likewise registers a new audience highpoint (107 million, up 6%), remaining at No. 3 on Radio Songs, while holding at No. 4 on Digital Songs (176,000, down less than 1%). The song has now spent seven weeks at No. 3 on the Hot 100, matching H-Town's "Knockin' Da Boots" (1993) for the most frames tallied at No. 3 for a song that rose as high as the chart's bronze medal rank. Only Real McCoy's "Another Night" (11 weeks, 1994-95) and LL Cool J's "Hey Lover" (eight, 1995-96) spent more time peaking at No. 3. LMFAO struts 6-4 on the Hot 100 with "Sexy and I Know It." The song jumps 5-3 on Digital Songs (182,000, up 13%) and 27-19 on Radio Songs (51 million, up 28%). The duo's former six-week No. 1 "Party Rock Anthem," featuring Lauren Bennett and GoonRock, meanwhile, descends 5-6. The tracks sandwich Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts," featuring Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine, which retreats 4-5 on the Hot 100 but advances 7-4 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 10%). "Hearts" rises 7-6 on Digital Songs, although with a 5% decline to 133,000. After she roared to her 20th Hot 100 top 10 last week, reaching the milestone faster than any other solo artist in the chart's history, Rihanna's "We Found Love," featuring Calvin Harris, bumps 9-7. The first single from "Talk That Talk," due Nov. 21, charges 39-23 on Radio Songs, up 36% to 44 million. The cut ascends 6-5 on Digital Songs (144,000, down 2%). Scotty McCreery Makes History at No. 1 on Billboard 200 "Found" passes another DJ/pop superstar collaboration, David Guetta's "Without You," featuring Usher, which bullets at No. 8 on the Hot 100 for a second week. The song zooms toward the top 10 on Radio Songs (62 million, up 15%) and lifts 8-7 on Digital Songs (121,000, down 3%). Cobra Starship's "You Make Me Feel...," featuring Sabi (10-9), and Lady Gaga's "You and I" (12-10) rounds out the Hot 100's top 10. T-Pain's "5 O'Clock," featuring Wiz Khalifa and Lily Allen, scores the Hot 100's Digital Gainer tag, blasting 62-30 in its second chart week. The song flies 47-15 on Digital Songs with 61,000 downloads sold, up 103%. Budding airplay sends it 74-60 on Radio Songs (21 million, up 41%). The track, whose video premiered Sept. 30 and which previews T-Pain's forthcoming fourth studio album, "RevolveR," marks Allen's first top 40 Hot 100 hit. The English singer/songwriter previously rose as high as No. 49 with her introductory effort "Smile" in 2007. All charts, including the Hot 100, Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed tomorrow (Oct. 13) on Billboard.com.www.billboard.com/#/news/adele-s-someone-like-you-atop-hot-100-passes-1005405372.story

Amazing figures. If SLY gets another 3 weeks at #1 it would mean that Adele will have been #1 on the Hot100 for 25% of the year, lol. Not bad for someone who was originally pigeon holed as an album artist (which she primarily is of course).

Really? I see what your saying but i also think Set Fire to the Rain could possibly be released in early november. It would REALLY cash in on holiday sales. Someone like you will have peaked in a months time, it still might be pretty high on the charts, but radios been loving adele im sure they ll make room. I think its possible Rain gets released early next month, and Adele performs it at the American Musi c Awards to get the single really moving.

^ If Adele performs SFTTR on the AMAs, it could very well do amazing things for the song. However, considering she's cancelled the most recent US leg of her tour for vocal rest and rehabilitation, it makes that performance unlikely. Either way, the song looks destined to perform very well.
Glad to see Rihanna making it closer to that 14th top five!

She's more or less intimated she'll be resting her voice for the rest of the year so I wouldn't imagine she will be performing at the AMAs (so she won't get an award either, lol).

Week Ending Oct. 9, 2011. Songs: Someone Like AdelePosted 4 minutes ago by Paul Grein in Chart Watch new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart_watch/74423/week-ending-oct-9-2011-songs-someone-like-adele/Adele's "Someone Like You" logs its third week at #1 on the Hot 100 and also tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. Adele is one of only four lead artists to have two or more 2-million sellers in 2011. Katy Perry leads the pack with three. Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga have also had two. The difference, of course, is that Perry, Mars and Gaga all but define contemporary hit radio. Their records are mostly upbeat, hook-filled and ultra-catchy. Adele also gets played on contemporary hit radio, but she stands apart from it. She's definitely the one in this foursome who "doesn't fit" with the others. Adele is the only the second British female artist in digital history to land two or more 2 million-sellers. Natasha Bedingfield reached that plateau with both her 2006 hit "Unwritten" (2,769,000) and her 2008 hit "Pocketful Of Sunshine" (3,086,000). Adele's previous smash, "Rolling In The Deep," logged seven weeks at #1 and has sold 5,327,000 copies. "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera holds at #2 for the second straight week, following a four-week run at #1. The song also holds at #2 for the sixth straight week in the U.K. Aguilera poured far more time and effort into the movie Burlesque, which performed modestly the box-office. (It grossed $39,441,000 in the U.S., according to boxofficemojo.com.) And then a quick, one-off project like "Moves Like Jagger" has given Aguilera her biggest hit in a decade. Aguilera's recording career was at a low point prior to her stint on NBC's surprise hit The Voice and the release of "Moves Like Jagger." Her 2010 album Bionic has sold just 295K copies, a poor showing for a major star, even these days. By comparison, Maroon 5's current album, Hands All Over, has sold 684,000 copies. Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" holds at #3 for the seventh week. The last song to spend seven weeks at #3 (among songs that peaked at #3) was H-Town's 1993 smash "Knockin' Da Boots." Only two other songs have spent more weeks peaking at #3: Real McCoy's "Another Night" (11 weeks in 1994-1995) and LL Cool J's "Hey Lover (eight weeks in 1995-1996). I admit it: I figured LMFAO would be a one-hit wonder, but this week the duo lands its second top five hit in a row as "Sexy And I Know It" jumps from #6 to #4. This gives Stefan "Redfoo" Gordy family bragging rights. His brother, Kennedy Gordy (a.k.a. Rockwell), had just one top five hit, the 1984 smash "Somebody's Watching Me." Rockwell never came close to the top five again: His next biggest hit, "Obscene Phone Caller," peaked at #35. "We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris jumps from #9 to #7 in its third week. The song also enters the U.K. chart at #1. It's Rihanna's sixth #1 hit in the U.K. Will it become a transatlantic #1? Probably. Stay tuned. There are six collaborations in this week's top 10, down from seven from last week. You know how in grade school kids get a mark for "works well with others"? If you want to be an pop star nowadays, that's practically a job requirement. Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs. 1. Adele, "Someone Like You." The song holds at #1 in its 14th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (218K). 2. Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera, "Moves Like Jagger." The former #1 song holds at #2 in its 16th week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (186K). 3. Foster The People, "Pumped Up Kicks." The song holds at #3 for the seventh week in its 24th week on the chart. This is its ninth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (176K). 4. LMFAO, "Sexy And I Know It." The song jumps from #6 to #4 in its sixth week on the chart. This is its third week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #3 (182K). 5. Gym Class Heroes featuring Adam Levine, "Stereo Hearts." The song dips from #4 to #5 in its 17th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #6 (133K). 6. LMFAO featuring Lauren Bennett & GoonRock, "Party Rock Anthem." The former #1 song dips from #5 to #6 in its 29th week on the chart. This is its 21st week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #8 (104K). 7. Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris, "We Found Love." "We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris jumps from #9 to #7 in its third week. The song also enters the U.K. chart at #1. It's Rihanna's sixth #1 hit in the U.K. Will it become a transatlantic #1? Probably. Stay tuned.
Loves it.

^Aren't the AMAs based on sales, though? Adele always could attend and not perform. Nominations are based on sales; winners by fan voting.

WFL's sales have stalled a little/remained stagnant over the last 24 hours (still 20% behind SLY). I'm suspecting the launch of the video will cause a big spike. SLY's still looking imperious at the top (Snoop may take over for a short time, though). With the airplay advantage SLY has, as long as it keeps selling like it has, this is going to be a big ask for any of the up and coming songs to take that #1 Hot100 spot anytime soon.

I also remember when he predicted hundreds of songs accurately over the last thirty five years.
