EVANESCENCE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH ROCK THE ONE-DAYS Will Adele Return to the Top Next Week? October 12, 2011 Welcome back, Amy Lee. Where’ve ya been? Evanescence, the band fronted by the sultry lead vocalist, returns to the charts next week with its self-titled third album—and first since 2006’s The Open Door—which is expected to do between 110-120k. That will put it in a race with Adele for the top spot on next week’s chart, based on one-day sales reports from those retailers not participating in the Occupy Wall Street protest. Prospect Park rockers Five Finger Death Punch’s third album, American Capitalist—not named after manager Jeff Kwatinetz, or maybe it is—will bow with between 90-95k in sales, which should be enough to make it Top Three on next week’s chart. Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina should do between 60-65k for her debut album, Wildflower, an impressive total for the show’s second-place finisher. PAX-AM/Capitol/EMI’s Ryan Adams is back with a new, critically acclaimed album, Ashes and Fire, which looks to be in the 55-50k range for first-week sales. Republic Nashville country star Martina McBride’s Eleven, her first album for the label after moving over from RCA Nashville, should do between 35-40k. Hollywood Records former teen heartthrob Joe Jonas’ debut solo album, Fastlife, appears headed for sales in the 24-27k range. Notifi/Fontana R&B veteran Johnny Gill’s Still Winning, his first release since 1996’s Let’s Get the Mood Right, should do between 14-17k in first-week sales. Album sales were down 8% vs. last week, up 5% vs. same week last year and up 3% year to date. Track sales were up 1% vs. last week, up 5% vs. same week last year and up 11% year to date. TEA (Track Equivalent Album) sales are down 5% vs. last week, up 5% vs. same week last year and up 5% year to date. Evanescence and Joe are exceeding my expectations. There was virtually no hype for Joe's album so I pegged it at 20k best. Same situation with Evanescence, and I was predicting it to debut with about 80k. Either way, I'm sure they're both disappointments.
Here's hoping Britney's remix album sells close to 10k!

That's a huge drop for Evanescence if that prediction is accurate. They did nearly 450k in the first week with their last album. Few bands can make their fan base wait that long and they clearly are not once of those acts!
Surprised with how well Five Finger Death Punch are projected to do. I really don't understand what people see in that band.

That's more than I expected for Evanescence since their lead single crashed and burned on the charts.

That's way more than I would've ever guessed for Evanescence. They clearly have a stronger fan following than I would've assumed.

I think Lauren will at least do 80k...
They underestimated Scotty by about 40,000 originally... so I see Lauren doing at least 80k... I hope...

60-65k Interesting for Lauren. Its good thats its better than both Lee and Crystals openings, hopefully she can get a following to get her a gold album.

Good for Lauren - outdoing last years winner and potentially the winner before that.
And WOW - Adele potentially returning to #1 after 8 months.

I think Adele will end up at #1, pretty amazing.
Evanescence's numbers are pretty good for a band with no hit single, but it's pretty low for them. Joe Jonas is ok for a debut artist but considering his following and former success it's also low.

No mention of Britney's remix album??? It is currently #15 on itunes, I would suspect it will debut at best in the high teens, if not below #20

I didn't really think they would somehow beat the odds and sell tons. At least it is in the 6 digits though.

That's more than I expected for Evanescence since their lead single crashed and burned on the charts. How So... WYW is still charting on both rock charts, which are their core formats. Pop does not represent success, nor does digital sales to a certain point.

Pop does not represent success, nor does digital sales to a certain point. True, but they've had how much national/televised promotion? Honestly, I didn't even know they were releasing until last week when someone told me via PM. They're very surprising numbers to me for a band who's lead single is flopping so incredibly hard. Oh, well. Nonetheless, congratulations to the band. Amy Lee is a great vocalist. I'm very pleased with Lauren's numbers. I'm hoping that the numbers rise to around 80k with the upcoming promotion she's got going. LOL at her outselling last year's runner-up, and and selling almost double to what last year's winner opened up with. By the end of Black Friday, she will have outsold both of them combined. This really has been a great rebound for Idol with Scotty & Lauren doing so well. And, she gets the #1 on the Country Albums chart, so that's great for her! :)

Evanescence, Five Finger Death Punch Eying Top of Billboard 200 Chart
October 12, 2011 By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles
After a long five-year wait, Evanescence is back -- and perhaps headed for its second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. The rock band's new self-titled third studio release could sell between 110,000 and 125,000 copies by week's end on Oct. 16, industry prognosticators say.
While that is probably a big enough sales figure to secure a No. 1 arrival, don't count out the resilient Adele and her "21" album. It sold 112,000 this past week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and has been moving between 110,000 and 154,000 on a weekly basis for the past month-and-a-half. "21" jumped a spot to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week and has never left the top four positions since it bowed at No. 1 on March 12.
If Evanescence's new album hits No. 1, it will mark the Amy Lee-fronted group's second chart-topper. It's first was "The Open Door" in 2006, which bounded in with 447,000 copies sold. "The Open Door" was the follow-up to the rock act's 2003 breakthrough debut, "Fallen," which spent 106 weeks on the Billboard 200 and has sold 7.6 million copies in the United States.
Meanwhile, rock band Five Finger Death Punch could be cruising to a top three debut on the Billboard 200. The group's third album, "American Capitalist," may sell around 80,000 to 100,000. Its 2009 release, "War Is the Answer," jumped in at No. 7 with a 44,000 launch. To date, Five Finger Death Punch's album sales stand at 569,000.
Ryan Adams' "Ashes & Fire" and "American Idol" 2011 runner-up Lauren Alaina could both start in the top 10 as well, shifting about 60,000 and 50,000 copies each, respectively. Country superstar Martina McBride's "Eleven" is flirting with a top 10 debut (perhaps 35,000), as is Joe Jonas' solo debut, "Fastlife" (maybe 25,000).

I can see Lauren doing between 65-80k. How far is Scotty going to drop, though? He won't drop that much to let Lauren have the #1 country CD, will he?

I can't believe the new Evanescence record is going to pull in over 100k in first week sales lol It's certainly impressive but I have a feeling it's going to go the way of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Blink 182's latest records and plummet its second and third weeks. Hopefully the Christmas sales spike will at least allow it to go Gold

It absolutely is going to lol there's no single out that's making enough of an impact to hold the album. Wouldn't be surprised to see if off the Billboard 200 mid November.
