Not liking this choice at all. One of my least favorite tracks on the album, mostly for the unnecessary excessive screaming from Aaron Lewis.
I would rather "Failing," "The Bottom," "Now," and "Something to Remind You" over this.

I wanted "Throw It All Away". That would've been cool, but to me it sounds more like an album track to me.

This actually struck me as the most sensible choice. It struck me repeatedly, until I blacked out.

^ It was obvious, which is why I'm disappointed.

One of my least favourite. Failing, Take a breath and Now would be better choice, to me

I would rather "Failing," "The Bottom," "Now," and "Something to Remind You" over this. Three of those are really forgettable for me. I thought "The Bottom" would've been a more suitable choice for both Alt & Active, but this one is probably my favorite on the album. The screaming gives it an edge that we haven't heard from them in a long time, so that point falls flat, in my opinion.

^ Well everyone has different opinions. I personally don't like screaming in songs and (wait for it..) prefer Illusions to this album.

Ah, I wasn't aware that you disliked screaming. This song easily could have plodded along like a run of the mill Staind rocker, but the screaming distinguishes it from a lot of their recent singles, I would say. I would agree that "The Bottom" possibly would've been the better selection, though. I enjoyed "Illusions" for the first few tracks, until it got all too samey and one paced. This latest album is also passable, actually.

I would argue that they shouldn't lose fans just because of their single choices, because I would assume a fan would've already at least heard the album. If they don't like the album, then that's another story, but that's not what we're talking about.

I really wanted "Now," but this was one of the more single-potential choices that they had. I'm just glad they didn't choose "Wannabe."

This actually struck me as the most sensible choice. It struck me repeatedly, until I blacked out. :) To be fair, I think the screaming (or at least a harder edge) is actually what a lot of ex-Staind fans had been wanting from them. I'll testify to this. Break the Cycle and 14 Shades of Grey were first-week purchases. I downloaded Chapter V after it had been out a couple years and didn't hurry to hear The Illusion of Progress, either. I think I've only made it all the way through both of them once or twice. At first I was so impressed by Staind's return to heaviness I thought I'd be buying their new record. A cooler head prevailed by the time it was released, though, so I only downloaded it. Nevertheless, while I'm glad I didn't pay money for it, I've been playing it at work in my headphones a fair amount since. "Wannabe" is so bad I feel embarrassed for them. (It's so unlistenable, this album only has 9 tracks, as far as I'm concerned.) The screaming in "Paper Wings" comes off as very forced to me, so that one's my de facto least favorite. For as sick of their ballads as I got from 14SOG onward, "Something to Remind You" is ironically one of the very best songs on the record. I think the lack of drums makes it stand out, as well as the fact that it never develops into a formulaic power-ballad, instrumentally. What you hear at the beginning is all you get for the duration of the song. "Eyes Wide Open" is one of my 4 favorites on the album, to focus on the song at hand.

They should have picked "Failing." As for the rest of this era, I'd like them to pick "Now" and "Something to Remind You" as the third and fourth singles to close this era out.

I love Paper Wings, and the only thing I like about Wannabe is the chorus. Like mentioned above, "Eyes Wide Open" has way too much screaming. That being said, "Failing" is the most played song off the album in my iTunes library, with over a hundred plays. It should have the single instead of this one.

Hope this can reach Top 30. At first I thought you'd have to be crazy to think that it wouldn't. However, I see that "All I Want," being the second single from "The Illusion fo Progress" only peaked at #21 on Alternative. I think it will geto the Top 30, but I wouldn't say it's a certainty.
