That's a pleasant surprise. Going with a "softer" single for once.

I assumed this would see a release date sooner or later, seeing as it's on the album sticker along with the previous two singles. I can see why they're releasing this after four very similar sounding singles, but at the same time, I'm surprised they're gonna ignore "Faithless" all together. I would have gone with it second, although you can't argue with the chart stats for "The Last Time."

"Faithless" seemed like the obvious choice for 3rd single, however i do like this song. Considering the chart success of the last two singles, this should do well.

Apart from the singles, I've ignored the For We Are Many album entirely as I found both of the previous singles to be quite far below average, and I thought Overcome (the album they broke out at radio on with the fairly-good-but-nothing-I'd-write-home-about "Two Weeks" and "Forever In Your Hands") was a lot worse than the one before it The Fall Of Ideals with gems like "This Calling", "Six", and "It Dwells In Me". This song however has renewed my interest in these guys and now forces me to consider giving this record a chance. I hope the radio version doesn't edit it at all. The production, the form, the layering of the acoustic guitars, and the overall emotional arc make this by far the most distinctive and best song All That Remains has sent to radio. Hopefully it can be their first top 5.

Hopefully it can be their first top 5. I immediately prioritized streaming this song based on this. Thrown off guard by how slow it is. I'm gonna need more time for this song to sink in. I've been aware of ATR since 2004 and have a downloaded copy of This Darkened Heart that I still haven't gotten around to beyond the 3 singles I knew from Headbangers Ball. I've since liked "Two Weeks" and "The Last Time" more than any of their other singles to date, but I don't know that I really have a full album's worth of interest in the band at the end of the day. I do like Phil Labonte and always root for these guys to do well, though.

does #7 on active make this their highest charting single or is The Last Time's peak position higher? in any case this one looks like it will be their first top 5 hit

I thought "Two Weeks" might have gotten around there as well. I know it was top 10, but I don't remember what its official peak was.

^ I think both Two Weeks and Hold On broke into the top 10
I'm pretty sure someone mentioned that The Last Time became ATR highest charting single..so what remains now is to see when The Waiting One will become their (new) highest charting single

Well on Billboard, "Hold On" peaked at #10, "Two Weeks" peaked at #9, and "The Last Time" peaked at #8, making it their highest charting single to date. "The Waiting One" is now up to #9 on Billboard, tying up with "Two Weeks."

Judging from the last five posts, I'd say you may be the only one who cares.

I do love this song a lot. Not a huge fan of the band though.
