LMAO @ anyone thinking Taylor Swift is missing from the line-up for a show that's paying tribute to soul music.

is she really? perhaps for teens but still she has a career span of 5 years. We should wait to see if she can maintain her status which i doubt. Jessie J is a British up and comer. Every yeat at the Brit Awards they award artist which critics think it will be the next best thing. The first recipient was Adele three years ago, two years ago Florence + The Machine and last year was Jessie J. Adele already achieved her potential and , FLorence is getting there and Jessie J will too. Isn't it time people grow a brain and realize that her fanbase goes beyond teens? That's why your favorite rappers show up at her concerts now. Teens alone cannot help you sell 1M albums in 1 week...or win you 4 Grammys, including Album of the Year...or sell out stadiums all across the country. And considering the fact that she's already been in the business for more than 5 years and people are eagerly awaiting her next release, you should be wise enough to keep that silly prediction to yourself. People like Miley Cyrus and Demi whats-her-face are the ones with a 5 year career span...who needs publicity stunts like naked pictures and rehab stints to sell albums. But at least they will be has-beens in the future, Jessie J never was.

I actually agreed with some of that, though I would never, never say that she used rehabilitation for business purposes. That was low.

The only reason Taylor won her grammmy is first because she is country and secondly her album was good and a pop crossover. As for selling a million a week, i think Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and NSYnk also did that which proves my point. Perhaps yoy think she will be here in 10 years time, but i dont think any 30 year old will be a fan of her music unless she evolves. I can't see it though

Demi's rehabilitation was NOT, in any way, shape, or form, a stint to get her to sell albums. This isn't the first time you've trolled around here bantering about that crap, and it's by far the most annoying, obnoxious, and disgustingly shady thing one could say. She had personal issues and she stepped out of the limelight to take care of them. For the year she was in recovery, she did not make a peep. Your fabricated crap that you seem to adore to express at any given chance you can get is far from old; it's just stupid. Rather than trying to make a rise out of everyone, why don't you just censor yourself? You're not gaining anything by throwing around crap, and nobody takes you seriously because of it. Isn't it time for you to get a brain and realize that everyone is over your ignorance?

I know...they have soulful voices. I just wish adele was there too. Oh and to the poster that wanted Tswift there. Chile...smh. Carrie undeewood before Tswift vocally...which is what this.show.is about. I would love Britney, Janet, riri, and madonna to be apart of something like this but its not gonna happen. Sweety, they had Miley Cyrus for crying out loud...anything is possible at this point. The show is not what it use to be....if Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj can be in then all of those you mentioned can also. Oh, I didn't know they had Miley on there. Well, they need to add Kesha to the line up then.

Anyways, you just admitted her album was good...my point is made. Bye.

I get Taylor Swift isn't soul music, but I think given the song she could do it. She is a very talented artist and to think otherwise is ignorant. Like her or hate her she still is one of the youngest people to win Album of the Year at The Grammys. A feat Miley, Demi, or Katy have yet to accomplished. #lawyered

But at least they will be has-beens in the future, Jessie J never was. :'( that was beautiful. Miley and Demi are on the way of Hilary Duff. It is a no brainer that teen artists have a big peak then crash and burn. Taylor does have a huge teen following, but many other demographics love her. Taylor will stand the text of time. Country singers get a spot in country radio dj's hearts. Unlike in pop, if you aren't the hottest thing of the moment you are forgotten. A country artist can be 80 and have a number one hit. In pop, of course, it doesn't happen. Also the biggest grammy honor was given because it was a crossover album Lastly, it does look kinda shady after her big meltdown that she releases an album.

Taylor stans need to sit the f**k down to be honest. Taylor is fit for many awards shows and celebratory/honorary specials, but this isn't one of them. And her winning AOTY at the Grammys is completely irrelevant to this discussion. And the Demi shade is unneeded. It's just pathetic to imply that her seeking rehabilitation for problems she's faced nearly her entire life was just a huge publicity stunt.
And to say that its ignorant to call Taylor anything but a very talented artist is ignorant in itself. She's not exceptional in any facet.

To each his own I suppose. I will let the facts fall.
Anyway, I hope Kelly knocks it out of the park. Just a thought I had, it might be wishful thinking, but one day a Pink and Kelly duet at the Divas would be amazing imo.

I can't wait either! I love the list of performances that I saw, can't wait for all the collaborations.
And wow, some people are REALLY fortunate that I didn't become a mod just a couple of weeks earlier. I'm just now reading through this thread and to say I'm appalled is an understatement.

Very nice opening so far ! Yep - though "Since U Been Gone" was kind of out of place as a "soul song". But yep, all three girls did great.

I'm not a fan of Florence's tone- especially during the ending of that song......yikes.
Of the group performances, Mary/Jennifer/Kelly were the best. Hated the Memphis group performance, and didn't care for Florence's solo.

Florence did great singing Amy's 'Black to Black' ! Except for the chorus, she wasn't back to black, she was already there!

@ Sharon Jones giving Amy the ultimate shade by flubbing lyrics and just not seeming to put any kind of...um...soul into that tribute. Meanwhile, VH1 gave Amy the ultimate shade by having that old dinosaur do whatever she did to You Know I'm No Good. I had to look away at one point, I was so ashamed. This whole show has been bogus. So mad that Adele isn't up to performing. Kelly was the best part of the show so far.

Does Jill Scott sound off key on this performance ? She has an amazing tone nonetheless.
