Burlesque also drops out of the top 200 this week. I believe this is the first time?

2 - 105 19 BOYLE*SUSAN THE GIFT 3700 148 1489 1908576
Looks like this is going to sell well this holiday. With her releasing her 3rd album too, it should generate more interest in this. Maybe it will be able to sell enough to pass 2mil. If not this year though it should defo reach it next year.

^As noted before, Glass, The Gift HAS scanned more than 2 million. The to-date tally does not include sales from Christian outlets; however, the weekly sales numbers do include sales from those outlets. SoundScan supposedly will start including those Christian sales in the to-date numbers sometime within the next several months.
lemi, Immaculate was on the chart some weeks back, when it was priced $7.99 at iTunes. Once that ended, it dropped back off. It's again $7.99 this week, so it could re-enter next week. I'm not sure how well-stocked physical copies are; it was on hold for retail ordering for quite a time when Celebration was released. I know Walmart's had it back in stock for a while now. As for Celebration, at most outlets, the double disc is way too pricey, and the single disc doesn't really cut it- so it not charting is understandable.
I Wish- maybe because FF hasn't sold as well as Perry's album. So when it's been discounted the number of times it has, it's REALLY noticeable in terms of its chart movement. :)

Burlesque also drops out of the top 200 this week. I believe this is the first time? Apparently Harvard grads and the world's other movers and shakers were too busy this past week to go shopping.

Coldplay's Digital Strategy Pays Off: Group Breaks iTunes Record With 500,000 Downloads in a Week
November 03, 2011 By Shirley Halperin with Billboard staff
Pointing to an increasingly equal digital vs. physical playing field, Coldplay's latest album, "Mylo Xyloto," which was released on Oct. 24, has broken a record for the iTunes store worldwide by selling more than 500,000 downloads in a week, according to a source close to the situation. What's the Strategy Behind Coldplay, Tom Waits Bypassing Subscription Services? Coldplay's decision to bypass subscription services appears to be part of a purpose-driven approach to digital marketing. Rather than using free audio and video streams in the hope they will lead to album sales, the band is more forcefully encouraging listeners to purchase downloads or CDs. And by keeping the album away from on-demand services, Coldplay is ensuring fans will buy (or find other ways to obtain the music) rather than listen for free.
The band bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart this week, the third time to do so, moving 447,000 units across all formats, according to Nielsen SoundScan (that number tallies U.S. sales only, iTunes downloads are worldwide). It marks the third largest sales week of the year for an album, after Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" debut (1.1 million) and Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter IV" start (964,000). "Mylo" is also the biggest biggest week for a rock effort since U2's "No Line On the Horizon" debuted at No. 1 with 484,000 in 2009. While the first week sales figures are down significantly from Coldplay's previous chart-topper, 2008's "Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends," which sold 721,000 copies (2005's "X&Y" came in at 737,000), the digital story helps close that gap on a global scale.

I don't think holding off streaming services had any meaningful effect at all on Coldplay first week sales, but, well, let them think it did.

5,612,000 albums were sold last week in the USA.
2,081,000 were digital albums. (I think this is a new high.)
3,531,000 were physical cds.

^It's probably not a new high.
I went home and thought differently while I was in the shower. LOL
Can someone check Billboard for the week before Christmas to see how many digital albums were sold?

Week ending 2010-12-26 had 2,808,000 digital albums sold.
It's the only market watch info I have saved for last year, so there might be one higher (I don't have the magazines).

The RIAA credits Burlesque as "Various"- I'd think Aguilera would get credit, being she's on eight of the album's 10 tracks.

I never expected "Moves Like Jagger" to give this album a second wind. Who would have thought this album would go Platinum after all? I think they should release a fifth single now...

There are 9 charts left in 2011.
How much more can Adele sell??
She is at 4,208,279.
900k is a given of the next 9 weeks.
Do you think she will sell 200k+ a few times?
How high can she go?

I think we'll have a larger-than-usual influx of Holiday albums on the Catalog chart this year - went to Wal-Mart yesterday, and they had an entire bin of $5 Holiday titles.

The Holiday albums chart had been posted in the Holiday charts thread. It doesn't hurt aything by him reposting this Although the holiday thread is probably more appropriate, only a fraction of this list is actually charting on the main chart

Loud easily outsold Rated R and is only second to Good Girl Gone Bad in terms of sales. Had it been re-released as initially planned it would have easily done numbers close to GGGB's. I think it's a pretty strong number for Rihanna.
As for Selena Gomez, she is doing ok. Her first two albums did 500k each so this one isn't that far from them.
Good sales for Hands All Over. All in all, it might cross the 1m eventually (I don't think they're releasing a new single so it'll be hard), so it's a decent total for the album.

I have faith selena will end up selling 500k giving her 3 gold albums.
i thought demi would be doing a little better, i hope either fix a heart or unspoken end up being the 2nd single
