I see Rihanna being #1 for 3-4 weeks before Katy Perry takes over. god no. that new perry song is so boring. also, 6 #1's from an album? and from perry? i cringe at the thought... well prepare to cringe baby! lol capitol's timing w/promo this era has been so perfect & i'm pretty sure TOTGA will be a top 5 hit at the very least :)

Riri fans might be getting a bit ahead of themselves - like the lambs did when "Touch My Body" hit #1.

Lambs were already talking about taking over the Beatles the week that "Touch My Body" hit #1. And, well, we see where that ended up.

Perry makinq dem Beatles shake in dey graves!!! A "singer" whose current album sold like less than 2m can hardly make any of her "competitors" shake.

I doubt "Migraine" would have been a chart-topping Hot 100 hit- perhaps it would have performed similar to "It's Like That." I say that as someone who, as you may be able to tell, didn't care for the track at all. :)
RiRi's output has been so non-stop- "We Found Love" did not ride the wave of a "comeback" that preceded it- that she probably will parlay it all into at least another No. 1 from the new album.

Wow, I hope she can pull it off. Plus, wouldn't she have 4 #1's this year? Depends on how you look at it...Firework hit number one in 2010, but some of its weeks were in 2011. Billboard counts it for the year that it peaked in. So if it peaks at #1 in Dec, but holds at #1 into Jan, it's still counted as a #1 for the previous year, not the new one.

Perry makinq dem Beatles shake in dey graves!!! Why? She's nowhere near tying or breaking their record #1 songs. So she might get 6 #1's in a row off an album, good for her. The Beatles had 6 consecutive #1's in a row between 1964 and 1966. And the BeeGees had 6 consecutive #1's between 1977 and 1979. If she does it, she will be the first one to get 6 #1's off of one album, breaking MJ's record. And that's quite an accomplishment, but it has nothing to do with the Beatles. :) And only 2 of the Beatles are deceased. Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still very much alive. :)

Please the Beatles had a distinct advantage over everyone else and the bottom line is if Katy or Rihanna can best a Beatle more power to them. Let's face it both have eclipsed the solo careers of every Beatle.

I borderline thought that someone in Mariah's camp was sabotaging her that era. She had two songs that sounded like absolute guaranteed smashes to me and then they release...hell, I don't even remember the boring songs they released instead.

I thought For the Record or Side Effects could've been smashes, too.

Her camp was so hell bent on releasing the lullaby Bye, Bye, keeping in the formula of EOM. Funny how an awful second single can kill a promising era, just like Hold You Down did for Rebirth.

But in our day and age to sell 2mil or beyond is the high point. I mean who sells more than that nowadays? I feel like comparing album sales in different eras is not a fair comparison.

And like "The Time (Dirty Bit)" and "Run The World (Girls)", most people really didn't like it because of those irritating horns.

Let's face it both have eclipsed the solo careers of every Beatle. What distinct advantage would that be? And again, Katy would be besting a Michael Jackson record if she does this, not a Beatles one. Eclipsing an ex-Beatles' solo music career? LOL So have plenty of other artists, didn't know that was such an accomplishment. ;)

Based on Joel Whitburn's point system through 2010 - all time top singles artists
Paul McCartney was ranked 16th John Lennon - 175 George Harrison -241 Ringo Starr - 359
Katy Perry was 244, probably a lot higher now Rihanna was 49 - also probably a little higher

That era was not a promising era. It was flawed from the get go. Granted, GR wasn't the best choice for a US single, Rebirth opened with a healthy 270k and I remember it was expected to open at #1 until 50 Cent bumped up his release date. I feel like she had several of solid singles choices she could have released instead of HYD that would've kept the ball rolling.

Unless itunes or Amazon has some sort of bizarre "black friday" sale on their single sales... like offering them at 99c or lower... I can't imagine people flocking to buy digital singles at the regular price just because it's Black Friday.
