I wanted that the others singles could be WHYB, Farewell & one another . Maybe TTT I love how all these posts are about Riri and no one is making an issue of it. But, to add fuel...does anyone expect her to go out 5/6 singles deep. She might just have another November album release next year. I hope the 3rd single comes out in February and 4th June...not sure we will get another single unless they split singles (urban/pop).

2011 has had 32 weeks so far I've counted 35 in 2001 Independent Women, All For You, Lady Marmalade, Bootylicious, Fallen, I'm Real, Family Affair I'm guessing that's the record. And an honorable mention to 1990, when 31 of the 52 weeks were dominated by female vocalists (thanks to Mariah Carey's debut, Sinead O'Connor, Wilson Phillips and several others). There would almost certainly have been a 32nd week if Billboard hadn't frozen the final chart of the year at that time; Madonna's "Justify My Love" would have knocked Stevie B's "Because I Love You" off the top during the last week of December, instead of holding an extra week at number two.

I dont see YDO getting big until January, so there shouldnt be a reason for the third single until at least March. Thats almost a month and a half difference from when S&M was released. This album is packed with hits, so I see no reason why they wont release a ton of singles. Where Have You Been Talk That Talk Roc Me Out ...are all single worthy and could be huge. People seem to be really into Drunk on Love too even though I think its the weakest on the album.

AGREE, the 3 you mentioned are definitely the three obvious singles, I only say DOL should be released as like a final single

Would be nice if they also posted audience impressions for some of the other top holiday tracks, too- hard as it may be to believe, AIWFCIY isn't the only one that gets loads of play. It's currently No. 8 on the AC Golds chart.

it was at 38 two days ago. During the 1st week it was out, it received massive airplay. On the 8th day, everyone experiences a huge drop. This is day 9 or 10 & she's still losing AI. This doesn't look good.

Rihanna's latest had a Clear Channel promotion last weekend that included playing the song every hour across over a hundred stations. The next weekend the deal was non-existent, meaning significant airplay losses in the rolling chart. The approximate loss has been expected and discussed at great length since Tuesday morning of last week.

This should help explain. The number on the left is the daily total airplay. As you can see the first 3 days were huge, then every day since has been much smaller, but generally showing an overall slow growth pattern. Tomorrow should reverse things as it will compete against its own first "normal" day and I bet we'll see an overall +1.5 or +2.
11 Nov: 12.479 12 Nov: 12.695 (7-day-total: 25.174) 13 Nov: 10.793 (7-day-total: 35.967) 14 Nov: 2.045 (7-day-total: 38.012) 15 Nov: 2.781 (7-day-total: 40.793) 16 Nov: 3.236 (7-day-total: 44.029) 17 Nov: 3.150 (7-day-total: 47.179) 18 Nov: 3.310 (7-day-total: 38.010) 19 Nov: 3.646 (7-day-total: 28.961) 20 Nov: 3.500 (7-day-total: 21.668)

It's like clockwork with holiday songs- last year on the comparable day (Tuesday, Nov. 23), this was AIWFCIY's showing: 18.507m (+ 3.044).

Ugh, All I Want slaying again! Hope Billboard changes its rule and allow it to re-chart on Hot 100 (wishful thinking)

Some may ask, why does the albums chart include older stuff and not the singles chart? For whatever reason, Billboard prefers to keep the tracks chart fresh and current (at least that's what was reiterated to me)- you know, tracks that labels are actively promoting at the present time and/or newly selling. It makes sense in a way, given that holiday tracks being an annual recurrence on the charts and all. I know other countries don't have such a rule, but they also have official charts that are totally sales-based, too.

Part of me thinks they should include it because the deceptive #83 peak on the Hot 100 doesn't reflect how huge the song has been (I would've died if the Bieber version outpeaked the original). Then again, like HG said, it seems Billboard wants the Hot 100 to be recognized as a very current chart on song popularity as opposed to just a singles chart. Plus, holiday songs that are super popular will never rival the most popular "song of the moment." Their forte is in long-term recurrent popularity which the H100 isn't super great at gauging.

I've been saying this forever:
They need a "current singles" chart and an "all songs" chart, like they used to have with the BB200 and the Comprehensive Albums list.
All songs would include everything based on the standard point system -- no songs held back as recurrent, no songs denied entry because they are too old.
And with that I would also say the current singles chart should take the current H100 formula and add a few more rules to stop the debuts of non-radio songs, so that the onslaught of album cuts and Glee songs stops. Songs would have a minimum requirement of airplay (say, 5m audience) to chart.

I seem to remember none of Michael Jackson's albums re-charting after his death.

^ MJ died in June 2009 and in December 2009, Billboard lifted the restrictions that made old albums that had fallen below 100 ineligible to reenter the BB200 (in part because this rule essentially caused the BB200 to ignore the million+ in posthumous MJ album sales). So while his albums were not eligible at the time of his death to reenter, they are now - and just a few weeks ago Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon charted in the top 20).
