okay so I don't do weekly charts or anything like that, but I love paying close attention to my all-time play counts on iTunes and messing around with those stats.
One thing I do is keep an "Artists Hall of Fame" in my library. Artists are inducted after meeting three criteria:
0. has reached a play count of 2,000 regardless of the three criteria below, or: 1. must have a total play count of at least 1,000 on all songs in my library for which that artist receives billing 2. must have billing on at least 40 songs in my library, with at least 7 plays each 3. must have been in my library with at least 2 songs for at least one full year. - legend status is given to artists who have doubled the above requirements (2,000 plays, 80 songs with at least 14 plays, 2 years in library OR 4,000+ total plays) - - GOAT status is awarded to artists who have tripled those requirements (OR 6,000 total plays)
Inductees to date:
1. Dixie Chicks (June 2008) F. Bumped to LEGEND status in June 2017
2. Regina Spektor (March 2009) A. Bumped to LEGEND status in March 2010 I. Bumped to GOAT status in September 2016
3. Brandi Carlile (March 2010)
4. Taylor Swift (October 2010) D. Bumped to LEGEND status in November 2014
5. Ingrid Michaelson (November 2010)
6. The Beatles (January 2011)
7. Kelly Clarkson (April 2011) B. Bumped to LEGEND status in February 2014 II. Bumped to GOAT status in October 2017
8. Carrie Underwood (June 2011)
9. Avril Lavigne (December 2011)
10. Fleetwood Mac (December 2011)
11. Tegan and Sara (March 2012) C. Bumped to LEGEND status in June 2014
12. P!nk (April 2012)
13. The Decemberists (June 2012) E. Bumped to LEGEND status in February 2015
14. Sara Bareilles (November 2012)
15. Dolly Parton (January 2014) G. Bumped to LEGEND status in December 2017[/i]
16. Florence + The Machine (February 2014)
17. One Direction (February 2014)
18. Lana Del Rey (June 2014)
19. Beyoncé (January 2015)
20. Laura Marling (March 2015)
21. Mumford & Sons (May 2015)
22. Nicki Minaj (November 2015)
23. Adele (November 2015)
24. Kesha (May 2016)
25. Vanessa Carlton (October 2016)
26. Nelly Furtado (March 2017)

Does anyone do anything similar to this?

I don't but since I've been keeping a chart since mid-1995 (and a second one since early 1998, plus an album chart since about 2000 or so) I have been thinking about somehow coming up with something like this that could incorporate all of these. One thing I don't really have is an iTunes chart though because I don't know of how I could actually measure them. If there was a way to count plays for a particular week then I'd totally do that.
I love that you're a huge Brandi fan. Her new album should be out early next year.
I'd love to come up with a hall of fame dealie though that somehow incorporates all of my charts in some way.

I've been thinking about doing something similar to this ever since I saw you mention platinum artists in the Top Artists thread. I'm still thinking of a formula, but I'll post it when I think of one. It's hard though, because I don't want a forumla that gives me too many Hall of Fame artists, but I don't want one that gives me too little.

One of the things stopping me also is that if I did it, would I want to make it an annual thing. If I did, I realize that I'm getting old(er) and I might end up stopping all my personal chart stuff soon so it would almost be pointless. It's also why I've never created my own version of the Grammy awards, for example. I do have a Gold/Platinum system in place as it applies to my iTunes. It's also an approximation as I vaguely take into account non-iTunes plays such as if I choose to play a CD or on vinyl, and pre-iTunes also. Gold single = a song that reaches 20 plays Platinum single = a song that reaches 40 plays Gold album = an album that, all plays combined, reaches 50 plays (includes non-album-inclusive remixes) Platinum album = an album that reaches 100 plays Only songs/CDs I own (digital, CD or vinyl that I bought/won/not-downloaded-illegally/etc) I consider eligible and for singles, only those that are officially released as singles count. I have 5 or 6 Diamond-certified albums that I approximate have been played 1000 times when adding up all songs. I think the highest certified single is a 2 or 3 that are 4x platinum, or about 160+ times played.

P!nk is the 12th inductee.
Sara Bareilles is looking to be next in line, but you didn't hear it from me.
There haven't been any ranking changes since the last update, but there have two "Biggest Hit" changes: "Addicted" is now #1 for Kelly Clarkson, and "So Small" is now Carrie Underwood's most played.

The Decemberists and Sara Bareilles have been inducted into my Hall of Fame since the last update.
The next artist who is closest to induction is Florence + The Machine, who will have to release two more songs to be eligible.

Florence + The Machine becomes the 16th inductee! With 1356, she has the second-most plays at the time of induction, following The Decemberists, who had roughly 1500.
(Adele, who will be inducted shortly after the release of her next album, is likely to break the record).
