HOIST THE BUBLE, BLACK KEYS REV UP Warner Bros Records Could Nail Top Two Slots, as Buble Remains #1 December 7, 2011 Michael Buble’s Christmas is apparently the theme to this year’s holiday season. Reprise’s Sinatra-like crooner will easily remain at #1 next week, with sales that will be in the 400-500k range. His NBC special last night was the network’s highest-rated prime-time show since July. Warner Bros. will also have the top debut next week with the Black Key’s critically lauded Nonesuch release, El Camino, looking like between 160-180k, where it will battle with XL/Columbia’s indomitable U.K. thrush Adele for #2. Universal Republic’s posthumous Amy Winehouse album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, should do around 90-100k. The album debuted at #1 in the U.lK. Columbia’s Glee Vol. 7 is on target for a debut of between 50-55k, followed by Roadrunner’s Korn album The Path of Totality (45-50k), Def Jam/IDJ rap group The Roots’ Undun (35-40k), Star Trakin/Interscope’s Robin Thicke (30-35k) and Nappy Boy/RCA’s T-Pain album RevolveR (25-28k). Finally, Legacy/Columbia’s The Very Best of Neil Diamond, which arrives on the heels of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, is slated for 15-18k. Album sales were down 18% vs. last week, down 13% vs. same week last year and up 2% year to date. Track sales were down 6% vs. last week, down 2% vs. same week last year and up 9% year to date. TEA sales were down 15% v. last week, down 11% vs. same week last year and up 4% year to date. Is it 2012 yet? www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news08793m01

Adele is the BOSS! I don't get why anyone is perplexed by her selling power... like J-Lo said in "Jenny From The Block", to me it's like breathing.

Unless I'm mistaken, 21 may be passing 5 million this week.

Go Buble! Looks like 2 million by year-end is very much within the realm of possibility.

If Buble's album does 400K, that would bring his sum to 1.4m and change. This week may be its peak- it may fall a tad short of 2 million, but great showing.
His special actually was NBC's most-viewed show in the Tuesday 8 p.m. slot since July- that network's been in ratings trouble (outside of football and a couple of other shows) for some time.

Michael Buble Set for Third Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200
December 07, 2011
By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles
Next week, Michael Buble's "Christmas" album will easily spend a third week atop the Billboard 200 chart, while Amy Winehouse's posthumous album "Lioness: Hidden Treasures" and the Black Keys' "El Camino" are both aiming for top 10 arrivals.
Though it is too early to project what "Christmas" will sell next week, it's a safe bet it will move more than the 293,000 it sold last week (according to Nielsen SoundScan). So far, "Christmas" is one of just seven albums that have sold at least a million copies in 2011 (1.04 million). Adele's "21" is the year's top seller, with 4.8 million.
Winehouse's first post-death album, "Lioness," could see a start of around 100,000 sold, while the Black Keys' "Camino" may launch with 175,000.
Seemingly underperforming albums out this week include Robin Thicke's "Love After War" and T-Pain's "Revolver." Presently, neither set is projected to sell more than 50,000 in their first week. Comparatively, Thicke's last set, 2009's "Sex Therapy: the Session," started with 123,000 at No. 9. T-Pain's previous studio effort, "Thr33 Ringz," bowed with 167,000 at No. 4 in 2008.

low numbers for Robin Thicke. Did he do any promo? I don't recall hearing about him on any of the morning shows or evening shows.

Wow @ Michael Buble. He could get 2 million by year end.
Not too shocked by The Black Keys numbers. It's been a well received album. I'm listening now as I type.
Adele will have to do better than this initial projection to reach 5 million this week but she's within reasonable striking distance. Could she be at 5.5 million by the end of the year?? I'm not familiar with how the holiday selling season goes. I know Black Friday week there's a spike and then the week after is typically the lowest of the holiday season?

Really surprising for both T-Pain and Thicke...
I thought Thicke had more of a fanbase, and T-Pain has a big hit on his hands.

I'm sad at Robin's numbers, but I am not aware of any promotion that he has done, and he doesn't have a "Sex Therapy"-sized hit to help him out.
Not surprised at T-Pain though. He's thrown out so many bricks that 5 O'Clock's success alone probably would not inspire too many people to pay for a full album. And he's another one who I think hasn't done much to advertise the actual release date of his album.

Universal Republic’s posthumous Amy Winehouse album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, should do around 90-100k. The album debuted at #1 in the U.lK. Why the past tense? The chart will be published this coming Sunday.

I thought at least 70K for Robin. That's horrible. T-Pain is pretty much expected. Not surprisingly its a s**t album as well.

Oh, MICHAEL B. (his special wasn't all that highly rated, though- but, obviously it's resulting in mega sales). Hopefully Jackie E. finishes in the Billboard top 10. And look at Bocelli's holiday album, close to top 10 prediction- I know someone laughed when I pondered if SuBo's The Gift could return to the top 10- would he have scoffed if I said that about Bocelli? :) Michael Buble soars this week to possibly over half a million in sales following his highly rated prime-time NBC special. Can he sustain his momentum through the next to last Christmas shopping weekend of the year? The #2 spot appears to be solid right now for The Black Keys. But nipping at its heels is the formidable Adele, who has thus far defied almost every sales trend in the modern music era. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend: Michael Buble (Reprise) 475-525k *The Black Keys (Nonesuch) 180-200k Adele (XL/Columbia) 170-180k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 160-170k *Amy Winehouse (Universal Republic) 95-100k Andrea Bocelli Concerto (Decca) 90-95k Drake (YM/CM/Universal Republic) 75-80k Nickelback (Roadrunner) 60-65k Jackie Evancho Heavenly Christmas (Syco/Columbia) 60-65k Andrea Bocelli My Christmas (Decca) 60-65k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 55-60k Scotty McCreery (Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope) 50-55k Now 40 (Capitol/EMI) 50-55k *Glee, Vol. 7 (Columbia) 50-55k Glee Christmas, Vol. 2 (Columbia) 45-50k *Korn (Roadrunner) 45-50k *Chevelle (Epic) 45-50k *Debuts (12/8p)

So, will Adele hit 5.5 million for the year? Looks like it could happen if she pushes 200k the week before Christmas.

Well Buble's NBC special was watched by 7 million viewers although it's low by broadcast TV standards the fact of the matter is, it is still a wide audience that was exposed to his Christmas album
