So why is Travis re-recording "The Storm"??? We already had that album, I hope it has some extra new material on it, it's been six years!

According to the country station in San Jose, CA where Dierks and Miranda are playing tonight, Dierks' new single will be "Bourbon in Kentucky." According to a fan club meet & greet this week, it goes to radio "in two weeks." We'll see how substantial these rumors end up being. :)
Edited to add that Dierks confirmed the song title in tonight's m&g. It appears to have been written by Hillary Lindsey, Gordon Sampson, and Ryan Tyndell.

Looks like they are releasing "Champagne" as the first single, but I don't think it's set in stone yet. She's been performing a set five-six songs on her radio tour, and from what she said they are all potential first singles. And I'm quite impressed with those songs. They are all written by great female songwriters. "Champagne" is a Hillary Lindsey track, "Waisting All These Tears" a Caitlyn Smith one, "Good Times" Sarah Buxton's, "Break Your Heart" Ashley Monroe... "Easier To Lie" is a Max Martin track that Christina Aguilera had on hold for her last album, maybe she has something to do with her recording it too. She's also been performing another one called "You Hear A Song".

If Cassadee recorded a Christina Aguilera song that didn't make her last record, I don't want to hear that for a number of reasons.
On a positive note, the rest of the songwriters sound extremely promising! Love seeing songs from Sarah and Ashley on there, and of course Hillary is one of the best songwriters out there. Can't wait to hear what style she'll be going with her album.

^That eases my discomfort ;) Don't know why Christina put that on hold. It doesn't sound like her style at all, in fact it's pretty country lyrically so its surprising Christina even considered it. Thanks Mairy!

Sarah Darling never put any mention on Facebook at all that she parted ways w/ Black River (despite her disappearance from their website), and now she posted a photo of her doing a photoshoot for her "upcoming single." So, I'm confused. Is she on their label or what? I've seen nothing to confirm that she's no longer with her label outside this post: pulsemusic.proboards.com/post/4320184/thread , which only was to point out that she wasn't on Black River's website.

I think she's still with Black River. There's been nothing from her on Facebook to suggest something like a label switch occurred, and she's been actively touring and posting things like this snippet of a photoshoot for her "upcoming single." Her FB page has her record label still listed as Black River, and while I don't see her on the main Black River webpage, I did found her on this page: www.blackriverpublishing.com/#!/artists

Wikipedia seems to list Ronnie's Dunn as having a new single called "Country This". I have no idea on an adds date or even label for this. Unless this is from a while ago and it just never charted, but I think I would have remembered that. Obviously there is not really a source there, but just keep that in mind if you were wondering.

It hasn't been released as a single. Here is a link to it link. He posts daily updates on his Facebook page and interacts with his fans. As of right now he isn't on a label, but has been posting in the last week about being in talks with trying to get something done about that.

I think Ronnie is gonna go the independent route...he might actually be in the process of forming his own label and partnering with another group for promotion, based of what I can tell from hints he's had on Facebook. He said he will have some of his new music up on iTunes very soon. The song "Country This" has been available on his website and SoundCloud for quite some time now; I posted about it a while back in the Country News & Other Non-Singles Discussion thread. "Country This" isn't officially a single though...it could become one, but any of the other tracks he's recorded have just as high a chance at being selected as his new single.

They're passing over the magnificent title track which is literally perfect for radio, for something that could easily blend in with today's dumbed-down, frat-boy trend? Lord help me now.

I always thought Tim should have led with Southern Girl instead of Truck Yeah.

Southern Girl is one of the worst tracks on the album. That said, it sadly doesn't surprise that it's going to be the next single. I hope it suffers a fate similar to Truck Yeah, however, and isn't highly rewarded for its mediocrity.

Really hope "Annie I Owe You A Dance" comes at some point. I doubt it's in the running. It's a bonus edition-only track and while that in itself might not keep it from being released, I think they'd look to other ballads like "Book Of John" or "Number 37405" or even "Friend Of A Friend" before they thought about releasing "Annie..." Anyway, I don't dislike "Southern Girl" but it's not a song that shows any artistic growth. If they wanted something upbeat and funny, I would've preferred "Mexicoma" which just makes me laugh. That said, I'm absolutely stunned that they're not going with the title track. Oh and layne, if they always intended to release "Southern Girl", I would've probably put it first in place of "Truck Yeah" as well. TY should've never made the album. But I guess they probably didn't want SG to come so early in the album cycle, likely so that they could somewhat distinguish this album from Southern Voice and the hit title track from that album.

I actually kind of like this song, but I don't want to see it come next. There are so many better choices ("Two Lanes Of Freedom","Number 37405" and "Nashville Without You" especially), that releasing this as the fourth single basically means that only one of those has a chance at seeing a release. Had "Truck Yeah" not wasted a single spot from this album, all of those songs could maybe have been released.

Sara Evans update. Talk of a lead single is starting to happen! "Evans is nearing the end of finishing a yet-to-be-titled album that’s expected to be released in late summer or fall. “I was just in the studio all day yesterday,” she said. “We just cut five more tracks, and we have just a few more to go and we’ll be done.” “I love it,” she said. “I was playing the songs for the kids this morning that we cut yesterday. There’s a big part of it that feels a lot more poppy. And I’m not sure why.” But traditional country music fans won’t be disappointed, because Evans promises there are some tracks on the album in that vein as well. “I think I’m trying to challenge myself vocally a ton,” she said. “I think I’m singing higher and different than I normally do. I’m excited about it.” The plan is to have a yet-to-be-determined new single out this summer." www.herald-mail.com/lifestyle/hm-sara-evans-performs-at-luhrs-performing-arts-center-shippensburg-pa-20130515,0,5919794.story?page=1

If I'm looking at the website correctly, Dierks Bentley's lead single off "Riser" will be released next Tuesday at midnight. And if it's what it's rumored and twitterly confirmed to be, that single is Bourbon in Kentucy.

I hope they roll out the new single soon because I'm both excited for it and looking forward to that album, and the sooner the better. Great news; thanks for sharing!

KCYY in San Antonio added Taylor Swift's "Red" to their playlist last week and gave it 20 spins. We'll have to see if Big Machine is gearing up to release it as a single, now that "Highway Don't Care" is almost peaking, or if it turns out that KCYY just acted on their own.

Releasing "Red" to both Country and Pop formats would make the most sense of anything from this era so far. "22" and "HDC" are both peaking. "Red" to carry her through Summer in Country and Top 40 is the only good decision Big Machine could make at this point.

Jason Aldean is choosing between "Feel That Again", "Night Train", and "When She Says Baby" for the next single. Just tweeted a pic of it.

Surprised nobody has mentioned this. Jake Owen responded to a fan on Twitter yesterday and said new single "first of July." I believe he also said album in Fall.
