It was sent to radio via Play Mpe this past Monday. Look for another secondary chart run for them. They're one of those acts that if they came out about 15-20 years ago they might be on a bigger label, but their music just isn't what's popular on radio these days unfortunately.

So there's been some discussion about new EMI recording artist Haley Georgia. and her "uncountry influences". She debuted her Sirius/XM single (and what is most likely to be a terrestrial radio single) on The Highway yesterday. It's called "Ridiculous". It was produced by Luke Dick and mastered by Chris Athens who does most of Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne's material. Haley said in the interview with Billboard that this is her first single but I won't start a thread til it gets a mainstream radio release. I couldn't believe how bad it was. The song is basically a play on the word d*ck, as in "you're ridic, you're ridic, you're ridic, you're ridiculous."
All I can say is wow.

All I can say is wow. This will make me long for the days of "bro country". It appears with Sam Hunt, Parmalee and progressing to this (at least Sam Hunt is talented even though he isn't country) that a "rap/pop/rb" garbage song will be the new "cool thing" on "country radio".

^This s**t is the reason I'm giving up on country radio this year. Time to dwelve into some alt stuff that doesn't suck. Like I said, this is a Sirius/XM only single. It hasn't been released to terrestrial radio, yet, lol. I actually think this one might not get a full blown release since the play on words may be a little much for the FCC. The regulations are so wishy washy that I don't know that for sure though. There's also the fact it's a horrible song. I honestly thought that somebody would eventually overtake David Fanning's latest release for the worst song in 2015, but even I didn't think it would be coming that fast. She's on EMI Nashville though, which is scary.

I can't see this doing much. The hook to this song is too vulgar for country radio, and that will hinder its chances regardless of the musical sound of the song.

I absolutely detest that Haley Georgia song. And I hate saying "wow, that's the worst song I've ever heard", but I don't know what else to say here. It legitimately terrifies me that country radio would even think about spinning such a pile of garbage. It legitimately terrifies me that people actually had the idea to write and record that "song", if you can even call it that. And it legitimately terrifies me that somehow she got signed to Mike Dungan's label. Dungan knows talent; he rarely signs non-talented acts to his label (he signed all of the artists that are currently on Capitol and EMI). "Ridiculous" is absolutely terrible. The possibility that anyone could even think it's remotely country just completely stuns me. Haley's voice is absolutely terrible on the song too. Usually I like to give artists multiple chances to impress me, but "Ridiculous" is so bad that I don't think I'll ever be able to take Haley Georgia seriously. I'm no prude, but I find the song to be absolutely disgusting. Now I'm wishing that the lyrics were actually something like "wake up in the morning feeling like C Twitty" as zaclord 🌈 joked about in the record label rosters thread. That would be a better line than anything in "Ridiculous"...

That would be a better line than anything in "Ridiculous"... I don't think "Ridiculous" will see airplay on mainstream radio just because of the play on words. The song itself is bad enough anyway. EMI is going to attempt to launch her as a country alternative of some recent pop singers, and the recent shift in appropriate music on today's country station probably makes them want to take that chance. I think this might turn into a Laura Bell Bundy type situation where the label has her on the roster for a little while but she has little to no success on terrestrial radio. Now I'm certainly not saying her music is comparable to Laura's (I too think one song here is enough of a judgment for Haley's musical offerings), but Mike Dungan is probably the one label head I respect the most in Nashville, so there just has to be some sort of reason to even attempt this. This is easily the worst song I've heard in 2015, and likely the past couple years. I don't see this making any sort of impact on radio for the reasons I pointed out, especially since she's a new female artist with polarizing music, but the fact she landed on a major label, and an imprint that usually doesn't have a ton of room for their roster, is scary.

There is officially a female "country" artist I dislike more than Kristy Lee Cook. Who ever thought this day would come!?

How the hell does EMI think that they're gonna make money off this girl and her trash....er "song"? I mean seriously, there's no appeal at all. I'd rather have 5 more Raelynns than her.

No Offense, it's the same thing that with Republic Nashville when they signed Florida Georgia Line.

No Offense, it's the same thing that with Republic Nashville when they signed Florida Georgia Line. Not really. FGL already had a built in audience on Sirius/XM and "Cruise" was selling incredibly well, before they even signed with Republic Nashville. Even though I don't care for FGL, there music is closer to the "country" spectrum than Haley Georgia's.

Finally, a female artist is talking about a guy the way that so many country bros have been talking about women! #equality (Of course I don't like the song. I agree with sabre14 that it's unlikely to receive significant mainstream country airplay, both for the right reasons and for the wrong reasons. I also resent any song that partakes in the race to the bottom the way that this one seems to -- trying to generate conversation by being outrageously terrible, with the intent of pushing back against the inevitably and predictably vehement dislike expressed.).

Haley Georgia sounds a lot like Ke$ha. But Ke$ha is a whole lot better, and Haley is annoying. How is that even a song. And how does she get on the Highway and artists like Rachel Holder and Veronica Ballestrini have never been on the highway and these 2 are not annoying?

Valory Music Co. recording artist Levi Hummon said his debut album will be out by the end of 2015 via his facebook page, and he's posted updates of him in the studio working on the album over the past couple months, which leads me to believe that his debut single will probably be released by late spring/early summer (May or June).

James Wesley has partnered with Calcutta to release a new iTunes single called "Hooked Up" ( iTunes). SourceAlso, it says "Broken Bow recording artist James Wesley", but James is not on their website and hasn't been for a while, so I seriously doubt he's there anymore.

Yesterday's daily Aircheck email also stated that he was a Broken Bow artist, but I agree, it doesn't seem like he's with BBR anymore. These sources are probably just going with the last-known information. After all, most labels don't put out press releases when they drop artists. It just sort of...quietly happens.

According to @broadwayonair on Twitter, "Loving You Easy" is Zac Brown Band's next single.
This sounds like an upbeat, breezy song for summer and another big hit for them. It's also pretty short at 2:35.

It's also pretty short at 2:35. Hmmm kind of suprised. I saw them Sunday night live, and they played "Castaway", and even described it as another beach song. That one seemed like a perfect fit for the summer as well. There's also been a lot of talk about the song "Beautiful Drug", so I just figured the next single would have probably been one of those 2.

Jake's lead single will be dropping very soon, as expected (likely this month, with an add date in May). Anyone else confused with Jake Owen lately?? Before "Days of Gold" was released, he had alot of press about how he was recording better songs and didn't want to be the beach guy anymore. When I first listened to Days of Gold, I thought it was underwhelming and pretty much a poor man's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" album. Then he released "Beachin". Then he says same things about maturing, and growing up and more "traditional" songs, but now he's teasing fans with "funky, summer time smash". ??? I understand the need to have radio-friendly fare and all that, but still...why say all the things about changing your music, but then not doing so. There's some artists out there who are still staying true to themselves (i.e. not selling out, but still finding radio success (see Brett Eldredge and a few others). To me, Jake has so much talent. His debut album to me is still his strongest.

Not sure whether this is the correct thread for it:
Sundy Best are announcing the world premiere of their new video. Had mistakenly thought it would be today since they announced it. Have not figured out what song it is; the new album "Salvation City" fell a bit short of expectations; and the lead single "Do You Wanna Go" is forgettable.

^^ OK. So the cat's out. The new video is "M.S.T." (My Sweet Thing). It's very alternative rock, guitar laden indie rock. They shed all ties to country here. I like it but traditionalist beware! :) LOL
