Okay, i believe that 7x platinum is easy for her (tie Carrie's Some Hearts). So i guess it would be 8 platinum by the end of 2012. What was the last female album to hit 8x platinum in US?

www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiAs we head into the big holiday weekend, all four (soon to become three) major distributors are represented in the Top 5. Michael Buble holds on to the #1 spot for a fifth week and moves up to the #2 best-selling album of 2011, unseating Lady Gaga's Born This Way. Adele scores her best-ever sales week at #2. And, unless something very unexpected happens next week, the Britpop thrush should reclaim the #1 spot for the final chart of 2011. Due to the holiday weekend, please expect a greater than usual margin of error. Michael Buble (Reprise) 425-450k Adele 21 (XL/Columbia) 375-400k *Young Jeezy (Def Jam/IDJ) 200-225 Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 175-200k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 115-125k Drake (Young Money/Cash Money/Universal Republic) 100-110k Nickelback (Roadrunner) 100-110k Andrea Bocelli (Decca) 95-105k Scotty McCreery (Mercury Nashville/19/Interscope) 90-95k Rihanna (Def Jam/IDJ) 90-95k The Black Keys (Nonesuch) 90-95k Now 40 (Capitol/EMI) 90-95k Coldplay (Capitol/EMI) 80-85k Adele 19 (XL/Columbia) 75-80k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 75-80k *Debuts (12/22p)

So there is an (off) chance for an all 100k Top 10. Gonna be a close one though.

Oh, Senor Buble- easily going to sail to that No. 2 slot on the best-selling-of-the-year list. NBC reran his holiday special last night, so that doesn't hurt the album's sales potential, either.

Scotty McCreery is probably the 2nd biggest surprise of the year. For real! I didn't expect this from him but then again, he's the winner of Idol and the second Country winner following Carrie who showed similar success when her "Some Hearts" album debuted. Country Fans + Idol Voters = Album sales.

Barely surprised by Scotty - I felt all the way through his Idol season that he'd be a star. He had a real 'it' quality with legit talent. Very happy to see him succeeding.

Scotty McCreery is probably the 2nd biggest surprise of the year. Ffrfr. I don't even know how dude looks, let alone how he sounds/his singles which is a first for me with AI contestants. But good for him!

Agreed and the Idol Machine has done well by him which always helps. You can really tell the difference when they believe in the winner and want him/her to succeed.

Adele is amazing. Scotty is almost a big surprise. I wonder if his album actually has the potential to go 2Xplat. Looks like plat is a lock.

90k for Rihanna is not bad but TTT is still behind both Loud and Rated R at this point.
I like her but the truth is she needs another huge single to reach 1 million with this album.
Off-topic: just browsed through the infamous Paramore/Mariah/Babs thread of 32 pages. Good times.

Justin got a lot of exposure on X Factor last night, so i wouldn't be surprised if his sales trend a little higher.

Scotty needs a crossover hit to cross 2 mil but at this rate he will sell 1 mil over time which is pretty impressive.
Oh Adele, to think I was just hoping she would see at least 100 mil on 21's debut week and now she's close to selling 6 million! Adele's success is definitely something I never saw coming a year ago. But what a pleasant surprise
Great for the Black Keys as well. I hope they can score a crossover hit

Billboard.comwww.billboard.com/column/chartbeat#/column/chartbeat/holiday-hits-michael-buble-adele-heading-1005732952.storyHoliday Hits: Michael Buble & Adele Heading for 400,000-Plus Sales Weeksby Keith Caulfield, L.A. | December 23, 2011 As reported earlier (Dec. 21), Michael Buble's "Christmas" album should hold at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for a fifth consecutive week -- the seven-day period that ends at the close of business on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Industry sources project the album will sell around 400,000 to 450,000 copies by the end of the week, which should easily bump the title into second-place among 2011's best-sellers. As the present, it is the year's third-biggest album, with 1.96 million sold according to Nielsen SoundScan, behind Adele's "21" (5.3 million) and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" (2.03 million). On SoundScan's Building chart below -- a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday), as reported by six major merchants, Buble's "Christmas" is at No. 1. Right behind him is, unsurprisingly, Adele's "21." Sources say that the album may have its best sales week yet, moving somewhere between 375,000 to 400,000. Its highest sales frame came during its debut week way back in February, when it started with 352,000 at No. 1. "21" is already the best-selling album of any year since 2004, when Usher's "Confessions" sold 8 million. Below Adele on the Building tally at No. 3 is Young Jeezy's new "TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition," which may bow with 200,000 to 250,000. Justin Bieber's "Under the Mistletoe" is in fourth place on the Building list, followed by Lady Antebellum's "Own the Night" (No. 5), Drake's "Take Care" (No. 6), Nickelback's "Here and Now" (No. 7), Scotty McCreery's "Clear As Day" (No. 8), Common's just-released "The Dreamer, the Believer" (No. 9) and the "Now 40" album (No. 10). Nielsen SoundScan Building ChartRank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 1 Michael Buble "Christmas" 2 2 Adele "21" 3 NEW Young Jeezy "TM:103 Hustlerz Ambition" 4 3 Justin Bieber "Under the Mistletoe" 5 5 Lady Antebellum "Own the Night" 6 7 Drake "Take Care" 7 6 Nickelback "Here and Now" 8 9 Scotty McCreery "Clear As Day" 9 NEW Common "The Dreamer, the Believer" 10 11 Various "Now 40" The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
