It's kind of hilarious that Adele's three-year-old album is selling on-par with Rihanna's brand new one.

It would be awesome if her first cd could sell 2x platinum (or is it already certified for that?)

It's going to be above 1.7 million after this week's sales, it will hit 2 million scanned eventually.

Wow I somehow skimmed over the 1.6 million plus part-I assumed it was still around 1.4 or something. Yay! Pretty impressive.

Yes, I realize that album isn't in contention, but that should be Adele's big night, so the album should be past 1.8 million by that point.

Never do at this time of year. Gotta love no HITS or iTunes during the busiest week of the year.

Bite your tongue, denverd- 21 will never drop to 30K/week. True, true. But 21 being #1 until Madonna arrives isn't newsworthy. Last week is! It's one of those rare weeks with full holiday sales + a day of digital sales/gift cards. Oh well, we'll know tomorrow afternoon when Billboard reports.

If 21 manages to get many more weeks at number one, it IS newsworthy. It's not all about sales.. It's not Adele's fault if there's no competition.
We'll see. I wouldn't write off surprise contenders such as Drake, Nickelback, Scotty McCreery and Rihanna. With good buzz and promotion those might have a shot for #1 spot as well.

I hope something surprises in January like a country or rap act that could open strongly. Where can I see January 2012 releases?

Tim McGraw would at least open decent to good. I just hope there will be no 40k #1s next year Tim McGraw's situation is strange though, because he's no longer with the label (Curb) that is releasing the set. That means that he will most likely not be promoting it, and may even be discouraging his fans from buying it. I would guess that it will sell much less than a typical Tim McGraw album would. Also, it hasn't been announced yet, but there's a good chance Kellie Pickler's album will be pushed back again, since the first single flopped and the second single hasn't been released yet.
