If this really is Shania-esque (haven't heard it yet), I will be massively disappointed. That would be headed in the wrong direction in my opinion (away from country). Shania-esqu doesn't imply "not Country". If and when you listen to the song, I don't think you'll be upset. It's different but not too far from typical Carrie. It's very similar to "Cowboy Casanova".... That's my closest comparison. Catchy, upbeat, and Country with a Pop/Rock flavor.

Yes I know what you mean. I want this to be catchy but going the Shania route is going in the wrong direction. But I don't think this is anything to worry about. Sounds great!

That clip reminded me of ADELE's "Rumour Has It".

People said Carrie was going the 'Shania route' w/ "Cowboy Casanova," too. Didn't get how anyone came to that conclusion then, don't get how anyone's coming to that conclusion now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hear the Shania influences in the clapping background when she goes into the " You're no good, girl." part. Regardless, though, this sounds amazing. I'll be able to judge better with the full song, of course, but the clip alone is already monumentally impressive. This wait is finally coming to a close.

Didn't get how anyone came to that conclusion then, don't get how anyone's coming to that conclusion now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think it's a stylistic thing. There is barely a similarity in anything else. I personally hear it in the slightest. Just through some of the background music, beats, catchy phrases, etc...

Honestly, if I had to compare it to Carrie's past work, I would say it's a cross between Get Out of This Town and Cowboy Casanova based on the snippet... and yeah, it is very Shania.

Hmmm .. yeah. Okay, I got the clip and am not too pleased with it. I prefer the first 30 seconds of Cowboy Casanova compared to Good Girl (not suggesting that the songs are similar, just that they are both lead singles).

The clip sounded promising. I also found the word play on the song title interesting ("he's no good, girl"). I'll get a better idea of this in about a couple of weeks. Can't wait.

I am going to reserve real judgement until the final song in HQ is released, but already, I am being reeled in by the Shania-esque foot-tapping, line-dancing-friendly, memorable chorus. I am in heaven with the smoky tone in her voice when she sings "good girl, no good girl.....goodbye shoes". Carrie has mastered this soft, yet bluesy tone only in the past few years and has yet another tool in her ever-expanding bag of vocal tricks. I hope to hear more of this voice on the new record.
Thanks to those who helped me out today- y'all made my day !

Carrie's bluesy tone is perfect and something that is lacking in any of the big-time females in country right now. Also, the clip makes me want to hear that big note that I know is right after the cut off! This sounds like the bridge to me, the bluesy "go" part...

Well, if the clip is getting people excited, I can just imagine the entire song. I think this song's a winner. But, what else can I say, it's a Carrie song. IMO, going by what she's been saying lately, this might the one of only a few upbeat songs. She's talk about a darker album. I don't know if she's talking about the nature, theme, or topic of her songs, but this ones sounds like it's actually anything but dark.

Carrie has said that but she's also said that this album is mostly upbeat and that for the first time they've had a more difficult time finding ballads that they have upbeat songs.

Actually after the go part she says "better listen to me, he's low" so no glory note at least in that part of the song. There a clip that is a few seconds longer that includes those lyrics

I am going to reserve real judgement until the final song in HQ is released Yeah, I should do this too. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised by the full product. I remember hating the leaked version of Cowboy Casanova and dreading Play On's contents as a result of that.

I hope it doesn't leak! Carrie seems really disappointed when things leak. :( Though I do not want to wait 8 days lol
